Acupuncture may decrease IVF success

hi all,

I was doing some research online and ran across a recent (Oct 2007, U of Oklahoma) study that found that women who underwent acupuncture immediately before or after embryo transfer were a whopping 37% less likely to become pregnant than those who did not. I'm not sure how the study has been received by the scientific community, but I know that a lot of you are doing acupuncture and thought you might want to read it. I am with Gigi2800, acupuncture helped me a lot. I will say that I think it depends on your acupuncturist. I did not like the first guy I saw so I searched elsewhere. I decided I wanted an Asian woman. I had great success with it. Also, my acupuncturist told me she completely disagreed with the other acupuncturists who do treatments right before and right after embryo transfers. Her belief is that upsets the embryo when the environment should be calm. Just my 2 cents!

On another note....I have been going through infertility for nearly 4 years now. I have had numerous cycles with clomid, injections, 6 cycles with injections and insemination, 1 fresh IVF, 1 FET, all NEGATIVE. Don't forget all the months natural. (we have NEVER missed a month trying!) The ONE cycle that I used acupuncture (3rd IVF) I finally saw a BFP for the FIRST time! Sadly I miscarried but still...it happened. Coincidence....I think not. As sad as my miscarriage was, it did get me one step further in a direction I had never been in. But everyone has to do what feels right for them.

Wow!! That's a first. I have been doing acupuncture and I have never heard anything negative. I am looking forward to reading this article. Thanks for sharing.

Here is a quote from the article.....

I'm sure the RE's are scratching their head because of this article!
