So, my husband and I are young we are 23 and 24 and we have been TTC for 3.5 years. This may sound strange but when we got married I was 19 and he was 18. I realize this may be unreasonable anger due to new hormone medication, however, I hate hate hate it when someone, who is trying to make me feel better about my situation, says: "Oh you two are so young you have so many years left to try!" Ugh.....that one makes me so mad! I always agree. Because what else am I supposed to say? What I really want to do is screm: "Do you really think that age is going to help my issues! If i'm this screwed up at 24 what do you think I'm going to be like at 30!" Oh my goodness that felt good! Thanks ladies :)

I hate that reply too. I just want to scream at them that i might be only 25 but i have the insides of a 40 year old! Then maybe they'd shut up. People don't understand or realize. I also hate when the first thing out of someone's mouth is "oh well. You can always adopt." I understand that is an option, but why don't i deserve the chance to experience having MINE and my DH's child growing inside of my body, experiencing all the pros and cons and giving life to something my DH and I wanted so badly. If it came down to it, I will adopt, but I'm not open to that yet, and it offends me when ppl think that should be our first thought, like i'm selfish for trying for my own instead of taking on off someone else's hands. Yes there are children who need good homes, but I want my experiences too. We'll see how it turns out, but they need to learn to keep their comments appropriate!

I feel your pain. I'm 31 and have been trying for a year. I'm also hypothyroid which complicates things. Everyone tells me "you're young" or "you have time" or my personal favorite from my doctor "you haven't been trying that long" - and compared to you I haven't, so I can only imagine how much harder it is for you to hear! I will offer one really odd tidbit though: of all people, my chiropractor thinks he can help us! He's been doing what he calls a "primary sacral" adjustment on me - it's supposed to stimulate the nerves and blood flow to the pelvic region and has helped a dozen or so people in his practice since he learned about it. You might want to find a chiropractor if you don't have one and give it a try! In the mean time, congratulations on keeping a positive attitude in the face of insensitive people - they really don't have any way of understanding! (One of my favorites was when someone told me they had trouble conceiving and then I came to find out that it only took them 3 months - I'd love that kind of "trouble!") Also keep in mind one of my favorite "shut them up quick" answers: "We're just having so much fun practicing!" Good luck!!

PS on the adoption post: we've been considering adoption all along - we've always planned to have one of our own and adopt another. People have NO idea how expensive it is! For the number of children in the world who need families and the number of childless couples willing to help them, you would think it wouldn't be so cost prohibitive!

No kidding. You said it best, what's going to change when you're 30? You're wise to start now if nothing's happened for 3 years. Best of luck! (((HUGS)))

I get told the opposite. I'm 36 and DH is 35 and I keep hearing "why did you wait so long? You could have tons of kids if you wouldn't have waited!" Probably not true, since my ovaries have probably never functioned the way they are supposed to. Either way, IF is brutal no matter what your age is or when you start trying...
