Hello everyone I am new to this suuport group. I was abuse when I was little The abuse took place while I was in foster care waiting to be adopted. The foster dad sexally abused me and the other childern who were living there He only abused the girls never never did anything to the boys. Well I am now 22 years old and I am wanting to go back to vist them and confront them about what tey did to me. Is this a good idea or not ? I want them to pay for what they did to me
The typical response to confronting is denial.
But you confront for you.Not for them is a very courageous act that empowers you.
Funny people say you "forgive" for you.
I think that not about forgivinig but confronting.
You do it for YOU regardless of the outcome.

I, like many here, did not receive the apology I was hoping for. Rather I was told how it was for my own good - to teach me love the "right" way - and then years later it was minimized and laughed at. So both times I've confronted, I never got an apology.
I've come to expect I never will, even though I still hold within me some part that longs for one - and I don't even know that an apology would do any good.
I like the suggestion that, if you do confront, you have someone there with you. It'd undoubtedly be a very emotional experience.
