I have been doing some thinking about the young members of this group who are still being abused. I know it breaks my heart when I hear these young people express their feelings of fear, confusion, shame, alienation, self-loathing In a way those of us who are healing are very fortunate; the abuse is over.

These young people have so many needs. Realizing they are not alone, talking about the abuse with people who are sympathetic and non-judgmental. They need to talk to others about issues like self-injury, addictions, repetition compulsion, Stockholm syndrome ... They need to learn how to love themselves, that the deserve better, and we need to help them build up their strength so that they can get themselves out of the abusive situations they are in.

I know a lot of this discussion goes on this board as many of us have these same needs years after the abuse has ended and I also know that many of us try to reach out to and support these members on our own, but I am wondering what we might be able to do for them as a community if we have a separate group formed specifically for their unique needs. Perhaps if we work together and share resources, we can offer something more than we do individually?

It would be a good place for those who were once in their shoes to share their stories, maybe we can match up victims with survivors. Im not exactly sure how if might evolve, but many of us have ideas and resources and I know survivors want to help. Any thoughts on this? Maybe a group like this already exists?

If not, Id like feedback from you guys. If I start this group will survivors contribute? Will victims feel comfortable joining?
