This one really got me. Sex life was great right after hysterectomy(27yo)then desire disappeared(29yo).

I'm about 7 weeks out and so far sex is better than ever. I still have one ovary, but I'm having menopause symptoms anyway. Still, sex is so much better now it doesn't hurt like it used to, and dryness has not been an issue... just hot flashes and drenching sweats.

I had a problem with one of my ovaries causing my hormones to be wild, and I had bad endometriosis, so I guess with those things fixed things are much better. I'm only 31.

Hey Pandora, I'm with you. I had a lot of pain before surgery. Now at nearly 6 months post op, sex is better than it has been in a long time. We are the lucky ones, apparently. I always look at stats with a grain of salt as I don't know that people who are happy bother to comment at all.

In regard this discussion I take the response of endo patients with a grain of salt as their point of reference prior to surgery is so much worse. Of course you would enjoy sex more/for once, after being cleaned out and organ adhesions released. Also true you can't miss what you never had. Women who didn't get strong uterine contractions would not miss their uterus. This is a lost physical experience not emotional. No one lucky enough to experience this would trade it to end monthlies.

Well, I didn't have endo and I did have uterine contractions with orgasm. I still have great sex. Go figure.

Because you don't miss the sensation does not invalidate those women who do.

No, it doesn't. Not at all what I am saying. Just that for some it is still good/better. That has always been my point. No one wants to have major surgery and have to deal with all the issues related to surgical menopause. I wish I had felt better and hadn't needed it, but it is what it is and I move forward. I don't like the what ifs, and the regrets that consume some people. When anyone is faced with possible surgery, it is good to be aware of all issues; good and bad and make an informed decision. My life is far from over.

I had a hyst at 29 (am now 31) and I must say that the road back to sex has been a long and arduous one. My OB/Gyn prescribed Estrace cream, as well as increased my hormonal supplement dosage to combat the problem with mixed results. Honestly, I think most of it is psychological.. you tend to think way toooo much about the scar, about your abilty to please, about anything really.. instead of just relaxing. It caused a major rift in my relationship with my fiance (we're not together anymore, btw) because he just didn't understand. Not a bad guy, but a guy, nonetheless. My head was all the way there, but my body just couldn't keep up. Talk about a downer:( All in all, I know that it is a process. Having someone that will work through it with you is a must!

How are you doing now, overall? You have a whole different set of issues to deal with at such a young age than I did. I hope you are better now.

hotmom1 - It is a process, as you probably know. I feel so anxious at times, because I worry about not being able to have children (the conventional way) being a deterrent to meeting someone new (a completely irrational perspective, I know..) and having to reveal something so personal. It's just a lot to consider. Right now, my ex and I talk, but I don't really see him the same, you know? He knows more personal things about me and this situation than even my family and the lack of emotional support made me feel so betrayed. I don't know, maybe I'm being too hard on him. He is a man, after all and cannot relate. At any rate, today I am doing great and that's a start!
