Hysterectomy Support Group
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). Although there are conservative alternatives, hysterectomy is performed for uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic relaxation, heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, and cancer.
I'm new to this group. I have been suffering with pelvic pain since I had my 2nd c-section and had an IUD placed in my uterus which I had it just for 1 year because the pelvic pain was awful. Since then I have pelvic pain that is getting worse by the time goes by. My ginecologist told me to have a Hysterectomy done years ago but I refused. I also have fibroids and got a fibroid embolization which didn't work. Last year was diagnose with adenomyosis and went to see a female pelvic specialist. I'm worry about getting a hysterectomy that may not resolve the problem and that may mess up my sex drive. I'm 41. Any advise, TIA
