When I was first tested and my tsh was 25, I traveled overseas about two weeks after. Overseas they tested my tsh after I had been there about two or three weeks. In that time I didn't have any soy products and was walking everywhere. My tsh went down to about 13. Then toward the end of my visit I had found some soy foods and had eaten them. My tsh was tested again and it was 18. I had no idea about anything to do with the thyroid so I didn't know it, but now I realize it was like an experiment of how soy affects the thyroid.
I was diagnosed after I had been eating vegetarian for a couple of years - including lots of soy! I worry that all that soy i was eating is what triggered this.
I do realize there are probably multiple factors involved - but still...
My mother is also hypo but she was never vegetarian and never consumed alot of soy products.
