Hyperthyroidism Support Group
Hyperthyroidism (or "overactive thyroid gland") is the clinical syndrome featuring weight loss (often accompanied by a ravenous appetite), fatigue, weakness, hyperactivity, irritability, apathy, depression, polyuria, and sweating. Additional symptoms may include palpitations and arrhythmias (notably atrial fibrillation), dyspnea, loss of libido, nausea, vomiting, and...
I don’t want to feel guilty holding back food and treats if I know she is losing some weight. I just love her so much and being overweight with “trick” knees and achy hips is not a good thing. Speaking of which, since I lost my weight, my knees and lower back don’t hurt me like they used to. Even my plantar facitus doesn’t bother me. Go figure that GD did a good thing for me. Blessings in disguise. :-)
My dog is a little overweight too. And I love her so so much too. I always say that the more people I meet in my life...the more I love dogs
Have a lovely time celebrating. :-)
Havent posted anything in a while...havent been feeling that great and major anxiety and headaches. I'm also getting pre appointment anxiety because I get to see the endocrinologist from hell again on December 22!!! I'm so worried that he will tell me that there is nothing going on with me...as all my results are in the "normal range" ,except for the Free T3 which is still flagged as high, but has gone down from the last blood test which was 7.6. and you'll remember, he thought that resultvwad very close to normak!!
Here are my results from the recent bloodtests:
TPO antibodies...1 (range) >100IU/ml- thyroid autoimmune disease, 36-99 IU/ml - autoimmune disease probable, 10-35 IU/ml - autoimmune disease highly unlikely, 0-9 IU/ml - negative (93% of population used for range),...I hope u can understand this as the results were in French.
Free T3(pmol/L)...6.6..(Range..4.2-6.4)
Free T4(pmol/L) ...10.3 (Range..7.0-16.0)
TSH...2.500 (range..0.380-5.330)
Cortisol...358 (range..am...166-828 nmol/L, PM...83-441 nmol/L
Glucose AC (mmol/L ...5.1 (range...3.6-6.1)
TSH anti receptor (TSH (TSI) (U/L) (reference range...0.0-1.2 U/L) My result....< 0.30
I'm still.not feeling that great, except it just seems that I'm craving sweets all the time and am always super hungry. Still have occasional afib and headaches( often) on one side of my head. Thanjs for your input and recommendations as to what I should be telling or asking this Dr. And, I think I told you...hubby is accompanying me on December 22!!! Thanks so much guys!!
IF they feel that your problems aren’t thyroid related then push them in the corner as to finding what is actually making you feel poorly. How can they deny you. BTW, your free T3 is a little high. I wonder what can be causing that.
One other thing, have them check your “female hormones” (estrogen, etc.) Your cravings can be associated with you POSSIBLY going into peri-menopause. My cravings were off the wall when I would get my period - that NEED for sweets (and salts) for me. I couldn’t get enough.
Also, THOSE hormones have a connection with the GD. The 3 major times that WOMEN get GD....when they first get their period, pregnancy and menopause. ALL female hormone related. (I can’t talk for men having this and why) but you get what I mean.
Your Endocrinologist should be checking ALL your glands and ALL your hormones.
Baylinga, Watch your sweets. Eat small amounts of protein and keep your insulin levels balanced. And, try not to eat Carbohydrates too much. They convert to sugar. (Bread, pasta & desserts) Try a coconut water blended with bananas and cherries or blueberries with Pea Protein Powder. It will keep you even. And, it tastes pretty good. Take Care and Good Luck.
In looking over the latest labs and comparing with the other ones, I would say that your FT4 is too low for your body's needs as we want to have that up in the upper third range to feel well. The higher FT3 is likely due to the FT4 being low.
You don't seem to have much of thyroid antibodies if the TPOab is only a 1 and the TRAb at .30. I wish that you could get the TSI test done in your country.
It is possible that your symptoms is that from being perimenopausal. I am going through that right now and I am 56.
