After I felt a weird bump in March 2011, I ran to the gyno for a check up and pap smear a couple days after the discovery but my doctor could not see any bumps; they magically disappeared. A week later, my doctor told me that I had HPV and after a coposcopy (sp?) I was informed that everything was normal, but I need to return in 6 months for another pap. Bumps have returned and I am thoroughly depressed, esp considering the circumstances I probably got the HPV. I was a virgin all through high school and college, and after years of not having a boyfriend, I met someone who I chose to trust. And of course, he broke my heart when I graduated. I never had sex with him, but I was just so heartbroken, I had sex with someone who didn't care for me at all the following summer, and about a year later, I had sex once more with another person (whom I strongly suspect gave me the warts because I saw something on him, but just didn't say anything) who I dated for months and even though I was safe both times, it still did not matter. I can't help but to think that I am being punished for something I don't deserve. All the prayer (which I can't bring myself to do ever again), all the protection, and all the trying to do the good and responsible thing did not seem to work out in my favor at all. And I have a terrible feeling that because I had to wait so long for the experience of being with another person before all this, I may never get the chance to ever do anything (sex, relationship, whatever) again. But, anyway (sorry to digress, I'm just really sad right now), I keep reading that if I boost my immune system up, it will help fight off the virus, so my question is should I go back into my doctor and request treatment or try to let my body fight off the virus on its own? This is especially directed towards people who have had the virus for a long time and, hopefully, have been able to get rid of it through natural means. I absolutely hate taking medicine, especially if I'm healthy enough not to.
