Are HPV and BV friends? I got diagnosed with HR HPV in the past month with a normal pap. I had a colposcopy done though and everything is normal, for now. My OBGYN said to just get checked again in 6 months. I just saw my General Doctor who said any type of cancer can happen within 3 years of it being normal and newly diagnosed. Um, gee, thanks that's uplifting!
ANyhow, I had to go to her since my GYN is closed this week for SPring Break...Must be nice, but horrible timing!
I had intercourse for the first time last week after being diagnosed with HPV, thought I was allergic to latex condom. Started with extreme itching, burning and dryness day after. I thought I had yeast infection. Itching and burning got so bad on my left side of the labia on Saturday I was digging in my nails. A water blister seemed to form later on after this and when i pressed on it it leaked clear fluid and never came back. Area stayed irritated of course. I thought ok great, maybe Herpes?? I never had ANY symptoms of herpes though. It was not painful or anything. So saw doctor yesterday and she said she did not see any blisters or warts, but did ask if I got checked for Herpes. I assumed I did, but don't know since I can't check with GYN this week. So she tested down there for that, yeast, BV and Trich. I asked her two times if she thought it was Herpes and she said both times no. She thought yeast since I had no odor.
Came back today that I have BV and a slight odor has started. So now I have to do metro gel for 7 days vaginally. We'll see if it clears and how this goes. I have to wait until next week to see if I have herpes though. Now another thing to stress out about. I keep checking like crazy and I do have a couple of small areas on outer labia that are slightly red and sore (do not hurt though), but not really bumps. Im just thinking it's irritation, but who knows. Im so sick and tired of this.
Anyhow, so Im noticing that women with HPV or prone to BV?? Am I correct? If so, what to do to prevent this from happening??
Im scared now to get it "cured" and get it again if I have sex. UGH

Anyhow, I'm like if i have it, so be it. I'm so drained from worrying and being stressed that what's another STD on top of the HPV is my thinking. I know it sounds bad, but it's been one thing or another since February of this year and I'm tired.
I've lost some weight from not eating because of the anxiety and stress.
Anyhow, same situation is going on down there with slight improvement. Tonight is my 2nd day of Metro Gel. Keep in mind I did take Diflucan on Monday since my dr. did not have the results back yet. Still having discharge, but not as bad, but now I see a cottage cheese material sticking to the walls of inner labia and it's irritating where i see a slightly red area that feels like ingrown pimple. If I touch it does not hurt at all and there is NO head on it. If i stretch out my labia you do not see anything bumpy and still does not hurt. It feel like the skin is tight. It doesn't itch by the way, but I still feel my pubic stubble poking it....So what the heck is it??
Maybe I really do have a mild case of herpes and got lucky to not have pain. I don't have other areas like this down there except for that. Well, time will soon tell. Thanks for listening out there.
As for your initial question, yes Hpv and BV are related. When I was first diagnosed with hpv, I also found out I had BV. It's not a horrible thing to have and it can be caused by anything. I know people who have gotten it, and have never even had sex. It's not just about having hpv. I know that it can sometimes be caused by uncleanliness. I'm not saying you're dirty but just make sure to keep that area very clean! Also make sure that your partner is clean too because guys can carry BV too.
I actually just went into the doctor to get checked for BV because I thought that I might of had it since I was itchy down there. The doctor and the lab didn't see anything so my gyn told me that it could have just been from working out to much, switching some sort of detergent/soap or anything. I also asked her about herpes, and she told me that I WOULD know if I had it. She also didn't see anything so she just thinks it has been bugged by something.
You said in your newer post that you had a cottage cheese looking discharge. That is a sign of a yeast infection. You might want to go back in and get looked at, or go to your local pharmacy and get meds that cure yeast infections and see if that helps. You'll be fine! Keep us updated :)
They are on my left labia (NOTHING on the right), almost outside of it where I have pubic hair....The bigger one as been itchy off and on, but I just cleaned it with peroxide and it's gotten a bit itchy, but I have not touched it. Now Im convinced it's GW.
Though again, nothing looks like herps or GW from what I've seen all over the internet.
Can warts have hair coming out of them?? Seems like the newer one does and the bigger one sort of has hair growing back from when I originally shaved last week when this whole thing started and I didn't know what i had.
I took the one pill Diflucan on Monday so pharmacist says that stays in my system a few days.
Otherwise i feel fine, but still nervous on what the HSV blood test will reveal.
Hopefully tomorrow I will find out....Keeping everything crossed!
I was only diagnosed with HR HPV. Doesn't mean that low risk wouldn't show itself sooner or later. I guess I would rather have it than herps that's for sure. UGH

It sounds like you've been under a tremendous amount of stress lately. That can lower your immune system and possibly cause the swollen lymph nodes. Do you feel swollen bumps where you think the lymph nodes might be? concerning the tenderness, one other thing it might be is a nerve or a tendon, those are common in that area and are tender to the touch.
My boyfriend is an ER Trauma nurse who has been checked for everything across the board. The only thing he has his HSV1...cold sores on his lips that happens once a year.
I was under tons of anxiety and stress when I was told I had HPV and had the colposcopy done and this was all in the last month....once I was clear I felt fine and wasn't stressed out anymore which has been only less than 3 weeks ago. I've upped my vitamins since I find out I had HPV.
Now Im stressing BIG again since the doctor mentioned herpes when she checked me on Monday, but didn't think it was. Now Im thinking, maybe it's Syphillis. I don't even know the symptoms of that! I don't think I got tested for that.
Seems that the BV brought all this on though....who knows. Im already crying and can't sleep, hence me being here and writing.
I feel one swollen bump where the lymph node is at. In the crease of my left groin and thigh...probably the size of an almond if that makes sense and feels tender when touched. When I don't touch it, I don't even know it's there THOUGH now I know why the left side of my pubic bone was feeling tight within the last day.
I keep saying this, but I'm so over it and I have no support from family or anyone. My boyfriend keeps saying, it will all be ok...just don't know anymore. :-(
My boyfriend performed oral sex on me two weeks prior to this and the night before. He had no visible cold sores, but i know it can still happen! He has gotten sick since that night so now I'm scared he gave me HSV1 down there! UGH what a mess and we waited to for a long while before doing anything.
I also remember one day after the itchness and burning down there I shaved my crotch again since i didn't want the pubic hair irritating the skin, but that could have done more damage than good and maybe introduced into the hair follicle bad bacteria!
Who the heck knows, but i'll be calling doctor in an hour to see if I can get in today...don't want to end up at Urgent Care.
I told her the timeline of everything that has happened and now this swollen lymph node. She said she would give all the info to the doctor and call me back if I needed to be seen. I guess my doctor is not in today and the other doctor in the group is. I also mentioned folluculitis.
While waiting at my desk for the call I almost blacked out. I had warm feeling rise from stomach all the way to my head and everything started to go dark and i literally could see stars and my vision got blurry.
She called back shortly after this happened and gave me the results and said to keep an eye on the lymph node. She said the doctor said that you can get a swollen lymph node with BV. (never heard of that or read it on the internet) hat if it got red, bigger and hurt after today and after their hours to get to Urgent Care.
If it stayed the same by Tuesday then to call them. For the other bumps she said to apply warm compress to get them to come up to the surface and pop. She also said to finish the Metro Gel.
I added that i almost passed out and she had asked if I had eaten...well, no, i was too nervous this morning. She said that being on an antibiotic no matter if it's vaginally that it can cause that.
So hope this helps anyone else out there, but I'm hoping now that I have HPV that I don't keep getting BV. Never had to deal with it before.
Wish me luck that this lymph node does not progress to anything else.
