Forever?

I need to vent! Diagnosed with HPV the wart showing kind in June 2011, had cryotherapy and podophyllin up until November. After very little improvement my nurse moved me onto Aldara and it worked very quickly, 2 weeks later and they went, stopped the aldara. They came back after a week, used the remaining 2 weeks of the prescription before getting more from the doctors. I had to stop aldara for a week due to a really bad bout of thrush over xmas, i'm now back on the aldara with 3 sachets left. I'm getting overly fed up now. 7 months later and they are still here. Will they ever go? how long did it take others to get rid of the warts? I rarely drink alcohol, take vitamins, exercise 4 times a week, eat well, drink green tea by the gallon load! Will I have visible warts for life?

I found this while seaching around on the web one day. Assuming you have the common hpv 6, or hpv 11 the median amount of time to clear is about 6.5 months. Almost 100% of people clear it in two years according to this study. Now you may not have that strain of hpv but its nice to have a ballpark idea. Be happy you don't have a high risk strain, it takes much longer! :(

now the amount of time to clear starts when you are actually free of any warts am i right?

Okay first of all, no, you will not have visible warts for the rest of your life. It seems like it right now because you can't seem to get rid of them, but just know that they will go away soon!

Your warts should go away but it does take time. For some they go away in the first few months and for others it can take a couple years, it's just how your body deals with them. For me my warts went away right away. I don't know how long I had them but I was initially diagnosed in Sept 2011 and they were gone by Oct 2011. I haven't had them since.

Don't dread that these will stay forever because they won't. I just believe that if you have a positive mindset and not stress about them to much, than they will go away on their own. Best wishes!
