I have been suffering with HS for the last 10 years, diagnosed about 4 years ago. In the last 2 years the boils in my groin kept getting bigger and bigger and the area has numerous scars now. My doc tried almost everything including Accutane. Nothing really worked.
This year I went to Poland and my friend there told me about Vinilin Balm also called Shostakovsky Balsam. It is a Russian product. Vinilin is sold in Poland in pharmacies as a medical product for burns, boils, difficult to heal wounds. It has been know in Russia for over a century. I started to apply it to my groin area 3 months ago and I havent had a boil for almost 2 months. Also, the small bumps under the skin, that with time would have became boils have disappeared. The only thing left are scares and discoloration.
I have been applying Vinilin for 3 months and have decided to stop this weekend. I am really hoping boils wont return.
Vinilin is relatively cheap - external use version is about $8-$16 online. Amazon and many Russian online pharmacies, some in US, do sell it. 1 bottle lasted me for about 2 months.
Vinilin is very thick and sticky and not easy to apply. It only dissolves with mineral oil so if you apply the product with your fingers you have to clean them with a mineral oil first then with soap.
Vinilin doesnt stain clothes.
I am writing this post hoping it may help someone. I know how devastating this condition is. I cant be yet 100% sure that Vinilin is the cure. I am hoping it is. In my case so far so good.

It is not fun to apply Vinilin. This stuff is nasty. It has the same consistency as honey but its clear in color. Very, very sticky, probably more sticky than honey. I am able to apply it only with my fingers as it sticks to anything else I tried to use. With my fingers I smear the product on the affected area. No rubbing required.
My daily routine is: I shower or take a bath in the evening, apply Vinilin to my groin area and go to bed. In the morning I take shower but do not scrub my thighs. No need to re-apply Vinilin. I wear pants every day, as I cant stand the feeling of my thighs sticking to each other because of Vinilin when I wear a dress. During the day Vinillin will eventually rub off so in the evening the area is not sticky anymore. Vinilin didnt cause any damage to my clothes.
I heard about Vinilin years ago on the European discussion groups devoted to cats. People have been using Vinilin to treat mouth ulcers in cats with kidney disease. I never thought it would work for HS.

I applied Vinilin only on the bump not on the whole groin area and thighs as before.
My problem is discoloration left by HS. Anyone has any idea how to deal with it? I just returned from vacation. It is very embarrassing when I wear swimming suit. My things look awful, especially when I walk. I had to wear shorts all the time
Mine is clear, thick liquid in in a clear bottle, external use version.
