You all know that my daughter and I have been fighting the good fight with HS and I felt we were loosing and I saw my daughter getting more depressed and more sick with this stuff...She is on the paleo diet which I thought would knock this stuff out of the ball park, but after over a year of having HS and still having breakouts I knew the diet was only a small help...not a cure..... I also tried every friggin cream, ointment, you name it that goes on the skin...nothing helped...Also tried tumeric, xtra zinc, xtra vitamins, and antibiotics from the derm....still didnt help...So, finally I took her tanning to a tanning salon and her skin is clearing up...She had a huge cyst on her butt before I took her and it is drying up and clearing up. Her sinus tracts look better. Her skin has not looked this good in a long time....I am lets say skeptical but I have a friend and she said that is the only thing that puts her HS into remission.... We go 3 times a week for 4 minutes..... Her skin was HORRIBLE...... and even right before her period she is doing well...... I know, uva rays, radiation, what have you but I also know with HS FULL blown WE HAD NO LIFE... I used to call her bandaide girl lovinglingly and now I dont have 1 bandaide on her skin.... all the pustules, boils, tracks, everything is doing so much better. I just wanted to let some of you know that have about had it and want to throw in the towel....... I am still not changing anything with my daughter; diet the same, but I am not doing the bactroban stuff up the nose ( useless), and also clyndamycin gel on the skin ( useless) and also am not so damned tired out from the stress of constant breakouts...... I also know that tanning in the sun or in beds can cause skin cancer or damage but I also think that if you abuse these then it really happens...... so we are sticking to tanning. we have our life back! @tangerinebear, i'm glad your daughter has found some relief. what is your tanning schedule like, and what level bulbs do you use??
It's the ONLY thing that really helps with my break
outs!!!! Yes it's expensive but to me it is so worth
every penny... Also it helps with my confidence cause it makes me feel like I look better ad makes me feel better as well.... I hope it does the same with your daughter.... Being a young woman with this god reched disease is so very hard!!! I hope tanning continues to help and I will keep you both in my prayers!!!!
I totally understand...we have to somehow keep up a sense of humor with this horrible situation. I believe if we can laugh at ourselves in the worst of times. we are well on the way to healing!
