Hidradenitis Suppurativa Support Group
Hidradenitis suppurativa (hi-drad-uh-NIE-tis sup-yoo-ruh-TIE-vuh) is rare, long-term skin condition that features small, painful lumps under the skin. The disease manifests as clusters of chronic abscesses or boils, sometimes as large as baseballs, that are extremely painful to the touch and may persist for years with occasional to frequent periods of inflammation,...

Here are some tips, I've learnt a lot by my nurse who does my dressings.
If you have a hole like wound - I would recommend aquacel (this usually is cut down to the size of the wound and packed into it) make sure though that the wound tissue is not over granulating (this is when it goes red and like a bump) if this happens it means there is too much tissue stimulation. So don't use the aquacel if that's the case. You would then need to put a dressing over the top. My favourite one is baits in silicone foam dressing. They are very comfortable and what that dressing does is draw out any infections. You can also use this foam dressing if your tissue is over granulating. My wounds have healed up a lot quicker using the foam dressing. I am able to walk around now, where as before I couldn't.
Make sure you are also have salt water baths!! They clean the wounds out really good. Don't wash yourself though, just sit in the salt water for a while. My infection came out in the bath... I felt so much better after, as the pressure had gone. I didn't even do anything to make it come out - I just lied there!
Good luck :)
The silicone foam dressing is something my husband is researching right now. Maybe something to try...if I can find it cheaper (they are spendy) for the size I'd have to get but it sure is worth a try. Thanks!
Salt water is my best friend in the ocean or my pool but for some reason not in a tub. It makes me have terrible breakouts. That is way I can't wait until summer...sunshine and salt.
Again, thank you all for responding! It's nice to know someone is out there. Prayers to everyone for strength and healing!
I had to use a couple of the large foam dressings at one point, I'm now using the smaller ones. I know it's a bit cheeky, but if they do supply me with more of the big ones, I could send you over a few and you can see how you get on? At least then you will know if they work for you rather than spending a fortune and finding out there not right for you. I am seeing my nurse on Monday - she just hands me bags of dressings and equipment to use at home when I can't make it to see her and when my wounds heal, I usually have a lot left over as they give me so much.
Let me know and good luck x x
I understand what everyone is feeling. I use Rawleigh Antiseptic Salve at night because of the smell. I also drink green tea or hot chocolate from products that my husband sell. Since drinking the products for 30+ days, my HS is in remission, also changing my diet helped as well. I wish everyone will be healed from this horrible disease. Please feel to contact me for the product information.
