I am almost 44 and have never had a mammorgam. Several years ago my HS spread under my breasts and is very painful. I keep doing my little "rituials" (diet, creams, cleaners & even more antibiotics) but the sores still come and go as they please.
Years of burning, throbbing pain, little bumps, regular quarter size sores and the huge oozing painful nightmares have left me very scarred and sensitive there. I'm not happy about the thought of them squishing anything. Not even on a good day and now I've got a flare there! Really? Come on! Can they knock me out first?
I don't have any insurance but was very blessed to get this apt on Wednesday because of a special grant. Please pray for me...a lot can done by the Lord in three days! Someone with understanding would be great. And strength...we all need Daily Strenght!
There's no way I can touch myself... How am I going to be able to do a mammogram? I don't think I can take another bad medical experience right now.

I have yet to have a spot pop up on my breast area (knock on wood!) but I know all too well how painful the spots are every where else, and I could not imagine having to sit there while they squish your breasts in between those things to do the mammogram.
I would definitely let them know all about your HS there and that you are concerned about the pain and discomfort during the mammogram. Hopefully you won't have to deal with an ass hat during this experience.
Will keep you in my prayers that you get compassionate care and that they make it as comfortable as possible for you!
Don't get me wrong it hurt so bad I almost passed out. I just wanted to do it. And I did. She said you could see all the scars and active ones clearly in the image and she'd write a long note to send with the record.
I found out that all of the charges were covered. If I get called back for more testing, which is very likely, or any other procedure they may have to do...it would all be completely covered. Wow, talk about Blessings...
