Now I'm on 1/2 a dose
They still have to send the prefilled 180mc dose. They wouldnt want me to save any money so they just tell me to use 1/2 and discard the rest. It would be interesting to read the scientific data on that.
If I could use 1/2 one week and the remainder the next week it would save between $1,500 to $1800 a month. Even though my insurance pays 66% it doesnt make it right and raises are rates eventually
They did switch me to generic ribavirin. That saved me about $150
I dont think the doctors are getting paid enough and the drug companies are rapist !

That's too bad. It would be much easier if you could just get it in a vial like insulin and use as much as you needed without wasting any. Man, that sucks.

Msclo, I believe there is a powdered version of interferon that you can mix and load. I don't really know much about it but it might we worth researching if it would save you money on the prefilled that you have to throw 1/2 away.

I had a similar question when I was on treatment and found out I only needed to take a little over half (.4 our .7 ml of the diluted powder). Actually I wanted to know why they didn't just send what I needed for less $. Seemed like such a waste when so many go without treatment for lack of money.

I can only assume it's cheaper for the drug companies to mass produce in limited dosage levels. Our waste are their profits.

I can't wait to see the price tag on the Teleprevir (sp?) when it comes out.

thats why health care is like it is. The goverment knows it and doesnt give a dam. They could fix it but wont.

Maybe ya could get you a hepper roommate that was only on 1/2 dose too...................then ya could give your other 1/2 to him/her....................course then you would both be drawing your dose outta the same vile..................hummmmmmmmmm......might catch sumptin............so maybe not a good idea:(

What I hate the most is the intelligence insulting attitude that I'm supposed to buy the idea that either major party gives a damn about anything but filling their own coffers.

There are reasons why you can't get the dose you need & must purchase more & waste. If the majority patients are prescribed dose A, it costs more to manufacture a smaller supply of dose B. Dose B would cost as much or more than dose A.
The freshness & purity of the vial could be compromised. Its made to be a one time use. The company won't stand behind a product not used in accordance to recommendation.
I'd talk with my dr about it & then do as directed.

likely things wont change much . we all know that insurers are evil but the industry produces literally millions of jobs. if you cant find jobs for your population they will be in the streets with pitchforks. government controls all commerce with incentives or penalties. a man i know was running a tractor dealership in the seventies. jobs were scarce. he was instructed by govt to put 2 more men to work in his shop. there was little business at the time so the men just pushed brooms back and forth. oh say can you see? my eyes, if you can then well my hairs too short..send me the intron mcslo, i git ripped on the shit.
