Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Well I'm back from my GI appt. and in the ranks of those awaiting approval for the 2 drugs without inf. and riba.!! I guess first I have to get retested for geno and get that CT, TT test done. I was 1b. but this time it came back 1a?!! has anyone else had this?
My fibrosure scan or hepascan came back 100% F0/F1. Viral load 200,000 , Alt/Ast 31/36. I am relieved, It was an anxious morning prior. Seems with this virus you never know what to expect!!!
My Doc. said that with these new drugs people are treating and clearing and even being taken off of the transplant list, ascitus is clearing up too! And that the 1 pill should be here in about 9 months. Hopefully FDA approved!
Some Hepatologist Doctor Gish will put my name in an approval letterhead, My Doc. kinda name dropped but I have never heard of Dr. Gish but apparently he thinks this will give better chances of approval, though Im tri-care. time will tell. Hope everyone is well and happy and warm if you are in those cold area!

Someone here asked in a post the other day if anyone knew if acites could clear up after successful treatment and I don't think he got any answers. According to your doc it can clear up...that's good news. I'm going to try to find who asked that question and refer him/her to your post.
It's possible to be reinfected with different genotypes and/or different subtypes. For example if one shared needles with different gt's or sub gt's then they would likely be infected with different strains. I read about this ages ago and from what I recall it makes it quite difficult to determine the genotype/subtype definitively when one's been infected with more than one.
Or perhaps one of your tests was just wrong; I hope that's the case. Get retested. I hope you get to do treat soon. Viel glck.

I'm a bit confused...You are showing F0-1 which is great! very slight fibrosis. Are you saying you are on a transplant list and have ascitis??
probably not the case, I'm getting another test and checking the IL28 ( whatever the heck that other side note thing is) dang, I wonder if I should root for 1a or 1b now?! Thanks for the words of encouragement, You all have helped me immeasurably and been my best information resource! Even my doctor commented on how well informed I was and I owe 95% if it to you!
