Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Well I'm back from my GI appt. and in the ranks of those awaiting approval for the 2 drugs without inf. and riba.!! I guess first I have to get retested for geno and get that CT, TT test done. I was 1b. but this time it came back 1a?!! has anyone else had this?
My fibrosure scan or hepascan came back 100% F0/F1. Viral load 200,000 , Alt/Ast 31/36. I am relieved, It was an anxious morning prior. Seems with this virus you never know what to expect!!!
My Doc. said that with these new drugs people are treating and clearing and even being taken off of the transplant list, ascitus is clearing up too! And that the 1 pill should be here in about 9 months. Hopefully FDA approved!
Some Hepatologist Doctor Gish will put my name in an approval letterhead, My Doc. kinda name dropped but I have never heard of Dr. Gish but apparently he thinks this will give better chances of approval, though Im tri-care. time will tell. Hope everyone is well and happy and warm if you are in those cold area!

He was my doctor until August 2013 when he left UCSD to pursue his own company and took time off to get it all going. Yep, I was traveling 350 miles one way to see him. He will be my doctor again in the future, after tx, and when he's seeing patients again in Vegas because Vegas is much closer to me than Phoenix (although my current doc is great - and Dr. Gish will be seeing patients in his office as soon as he has his AZ license).
And oh yeah, he is awesome, Dr. Gish. VERY well known in the "circles" of HCV. Check out that website I linked about - it's all there.
