Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I mean it actually benefits the diseases that are killing or affecting most. More potential to make a buck, harder they are going to try for a cure.
It may not be right ethically, but I do think a disease that is killing millions deserves more attention than one that kills thousands.
And trust me, if the Government ran this medical world.........it would put priority on the worse diseases.....or what they feel are the worse diseases too. they will be trying to save the medical costs that come with having a disease.
The more people sick.........the more it costs them.
So they will be trying to prevent the majority from being sick.......and they will not care about the minority either.
Docs make big money cause they have sacraficed big time in life.
Should they preform their services for less, probably so.
If more want to drive the cost down.....become a Doctor!
lol that is what sucks, the good ones usually cost the most.
but I can't se anyway to prevent it.
It is sad but money makes the world go round.
The Government can't fix this.
Socialism is great in theory and like i said would be the moral right thing to do..........
but it just doesn't work.
You have to give folks incentives.........or they will do nothing!
it is the age old theory of this:
You let the human body decide what it wants to do......and it would do nothig but eat and sleep lol
I mean it actually benefits the diseases that are killing or affecting most. More potential to make a buck, harder they are going to try for a cure.
Hey Chris,
I'm not sure I agree with this. I don't think the profits drive the cures. B/C there is no profit unless there is a cure. There is also red tape with FDA approval slowing it down with all the studies and tests. So, it's years before any profit can be made. I think once this happens they are driven to sell the drugs to make the profit. I've had so many dr's give me a new prescription with free samples b/c of the drug reps. out marketing. JMHO
Now, they may not make it off the bat, but like any business, the potential of profits is what dives them to be successful.
And ultimately, what they are after.
so they can get your to buy their product.
Why do they want yoiu to buy their product..........
profit.
The government can put a law on having to do a clean air check up on our cars every 2 years, now why can't there be a must test every 2 years on patients of all the Doctors in the world.

Problem with that is the govt already control way too much of what we do (please don't turn this into a political post)
Then what happens when the people without insurance (like me) that don't have to see a doctor on a regular basis....well how ya gonna round them up to go get tested? Maybe a tattoo on their forehead that you update every 2 years?
While the whole idea is a novel one....everyone should get tested....but I don't think you can make a law or have the gov't control it.
oh, and
this already kinda is a political post.
Anything to do with the Government is political.
Hey I see you joined a new group....LOL
I just thought of something. Isn't it mandatory now when applying for a marriage application to be tested for HIV? If this is correct then why not HCV also? The downfall is this damn recession and all the state cutbacks. Alot, of people would use the health dept. and gee I know our state wouldn't want to fund that.
And, on another note. This topic brought to mind "preventive care" do you know now kids in USA school's are required to have a HepB vaccination before they will be allowed to attend? Does anyone know why its just HepB? I think it was 4th or 5th grade when my son had to have it. The school sent a letter and sent us to the health dept. Didn't care then about whether we had ins. or not. This was 7 years ago.
