I asked to see a doctor yesterday. There are apparently none available. I asked to see my basic safety blood work so that I can see myself how my kidneys, liver, blood counts etc are doing. I was told point blank that this was their study and that was not my business and that I would never know. If they do not want to share that info I can only think that I could leave here after 8 days with failing organs or anything. I sign the hippa thing and would assume that if they have you sign it they should have to honor it am I right? I want to make a difference and am happy to do this but I do believe I deserve a few basic human rights. the other people here are healthy people that are here testing drugs for them and they do it for the money. I am not a healthy person and do believe that I should be kept informed as to how my body is functioning throughout this study. I am seriously considering checking out and going home. I still have my appt with my doctor at the liver center in Phx and can go that way. I signed up for this trial to help get more drugs on the market so that we all have a better chance but I do not feel comfortable being told my body is none of my business. What would you do??
Thanks, Donna
There is a trust factor when you go into a study. some things are with held from you to protect the study. I still do not "know" whether I got the placebo. I believe i got the drug because of the sides before I started the riba/interferon.

I am alone in my study here. I was the only one this time. They did go over my results as far as my basic blood work so I know I am physicaly ok and I look forward to finding out in a few weeks how I am doing with my viral load. I am lucky because I knew from the begining I would be getting the drug so I didn't have to worry and wonder. I have had no side effects and I hope it is helping:)
