Starting a study tomorrow!

Hi all!
I finally got accepted and check in to the hospital tomorrow. I am trying a new kind of drug that has had good response in animals so I have my fingers crossed:) The drug number is bms-824393 and if you look it up online there are some things written about it. I hope there are not very many side effects. I will post through the week while I am in to let you all know anything I learn. They tell me I can have my computer and phone so I hope they are telling the truth:) Have a great week all!!!

Thats great, wish you all the best. Is this drug made by Roche? Are you on the interferon/riba also?

I have never had any treatment before but it is only going to be the drug on its own. it is made by bristol meyers/squibb. if you google it there are articles on it:) I am excited to give it a shot!!!!

It is a dosing and safety study so I will only be dosed for three days then I will stay in the hospital 5 more days then I go home and keep going back for 14 days then 30 days then 60. The first person who did the study had no decetable viral load after 3 months still but they told me they expect it to be a bit longer treatment normally but not nearly as long as standard combination therapy. He must have just been lucky and hopefully it will not come back. Plus not as many side effects. I hope it works as well in humabs as well as rats and monkeys:) they say I can have my phone and computer and will post and let you know what it does for me and to me. The neat thing is they test you blood 9 times a day and will tell me what is happening as they know.

I'm anxious to know what stage of study it is. The first stage after animal experimentation usually contains a control group.
Not to be a wet blanket, but you could be in the first stages and be in the "control group", which gets a placebo. Then they compare the results of the control group with that of the group that got the actual medication. I would only participate in a study that was in the last stages, or ready for FDA approval.... no control group.
Talk to Ptriss about the study she was in.
