I started solv/riba on May 6. This is day 10.
The use of solvaldi is new in the general population. Long term results are not available yet, we are the pioneers.

I am on week 7. I started week 1, joints ache and then I felt on top of the world,...tons of energy.

Then my Riba had to be lowered to 600mg due to low hemo/RBC.

Now I feel pretty yucky most of the day,. I do have good days, I have to drink 6 bottles of water, or I pay for it by being sicker.

Today is a better day. Actually depending on how much I do in a day will dictate how I feel the next day.

It tolerable. I did Interfeuron, and trust me this is like a cakewalk.
Easy compared to past.

Word of warning about RIBA. It can cause dental and gum issues to pop up quickly. If you have any twinge of dental problem arise get to your dentist.
I say this as I sit in dental chair about to have an extraction. My dentist (my brother) spoke to my pharmacy and that is how I learned this

Everyone is different and experiences the drugs differently. Riba, depending on dose, can cause many side effects, the most common being fatigue due to lowered HGB which can become anemia. I had anemia with shortness of breath on Riba. I also had insomnia, nausea, vomiting and extreme sun sensitivity and mood swings, irritability. Any of these are possibleand should be discussed with your doctor or nurse.

Many on Sovaldi without Riba experience no sides at all. Some have headaches.

Drink lots of water and use the best sun screen you can get!! I was given SPF 100 on clinical trial using Riba and still got a rash on my hands,

Tell your doctor about any sides effects as there are ways to mediate them. I was given sleep medication and anti-nausea meds and I had my dose reduced to lessen the anemia that was causing shortness of breath on exertion.

PS I completed 12 weeks of Sovaldi & Olysio - after failing the clinical trial i was on. I am SVR-4 and waiting for my 12 week VL test the end of the month.

Coming to end of week 1 now, and so far pretty good. What I have noticed is that the fatigue is/was the most pronounced, but that has been up and down. First time at the gym on my usual settings was like pushing thru molasses, then yesterday I felt like Superman! Weird. Some nights I have slept all the way thru, but last night not so much. I usually never sleep more than 6 hours anyway tho. Mood swings are noticeable, and I have had some very fleeting emotional spikes. I am usually fairly placid, so this is interesting! I have been taking some naturopathic supplements too that my naturo doc said would help with the effects. maybe these are helping?!? He works with many cancer patients too, and is highly regarded here in the medical community.
I also have been leading a pretty healthy lifestyle for the last few years: mostly good diet, very active, etc, and I think this raw material has been the most important.

Day 13 on solv/riba

This past week much better. First week may have been my body shocked by drugs
Itchiness like fiber glass- manageable
One nite bad sleep but that normal for me
head ache very slight better than last week
ringing in ears mild
Stomach upset -better
Sometimes my muscles feel on fire
Sometimes feel like a bad sunburn all over (not due to sun)
The sides come on like a rush hours after taking riba

I can add as I start week 8 - STRESS WILL GIVE YOU A HUGE HEADACHE - I MEAN IT......

FOR ME ANYWAY. Just spent the last 2 day in bed on ice!!

Just finished week 3 on Sunday, and did my first labs last week. Just got a text from my doc : "Virus is almost gone". Yay! Something seems to be working... I have an appointment with him next week after my next labs to go over things.
I also just turned down a plum job where the people were going to allow me to stay at home and oversee from afar. I just do not wish to add any stress to my life right now, and possibly jeopardize the ongoing treatment. While every cell in me is screaming, 'earn money, work!' I need to self-care, and something will work out when the time is right...

I am finishing week 10 and it does get easier, but I do tire easily.
Fell asleep in movie theatre watching "A Million Ways to Die in the Wild West", while my Hubby laughed and laughed.
Could not stay awake.

Emotional rollercoaster also - finally went to church and told Priest I have been biting my husband's head off - he wanted to know more about the new tx as his sister has Hep C - last thing I expected!!

There are soooo many of us out there!!!
Better you focus on yourself for now...

began last Friday, doc has me doing blood work tomorrow (Friday (1 week)) no side effects YET, I expect them to come later.

had the condition since 1975 and haven't had any health issues from it, and still don't but before I go on Medicare this Dec and while my insurance is covering it I figured I better go for it.

im at the end of week 10 of 12 on sovaldi , olysio , riba . getting a little crispy in the head from the riba but otherwise been und since week 4 and feeling like superman since week two . ive been bodybuilding ( at work ) thru this tx and the nurses keep warning me to take it easy ..
liver is cool , swelling is gone , and unless something stresses me , my urine has been as clear as water since week two . low grade headache the whole way . piece of cake ..

I'm so glad you have started the treatments. Since I'm on Sovaldi and Olysio, I haven't experienced Riba. The only side I'm having is sensitive, blurry eyes, but I don't know which of the 2 meds is causing that. I haven't seen anyone else post about eye problems. Good luck, rocerc.

Hemoglobin is falling.
Getting tired sometimes so tired I can't wave my hand.
Its up & down.

If I notice I'm almost at halfway, that helps. Sometimes the feeling of rolling in fiberglass gets on my nerves.
