Sleep during and post treatment

Anyone else have a really hard time with sleep? I feel like the minute my head hits the pillow my mind goes into overdrive. I end up taking something to help me sleep on most nights. I am very active again; working full time with a significant daily commute, lots of stuff going on with kids, trying to get exercise, etc. My body is exhausted but my mind won't shut down. Frustrating.....

Last night around midnight I was really struggling with thoughts. Felt like life was like a long, drawn out, really bad joke......

I am about 10 wks post TX and have recently quit my Ambein that I had been on for a long long time. I have replaced it with a natural supplement called L-Trytophan. Sometimes I also take magnesium with it as well. I am sleeping better than ever. I feared I was getting addicted to the Ambien.

This means I'm lucky because I sleep very well while taking Riba. I wish I lose some of this luck :(

Children's liquid benadryl and setting the sleep timer on my TV is my remedy.

Becky so glad you're feeling a little better. I do the white noise also. Read about self hipnosis, and do that also.

Thanks all! I am hoping it is just an adjustment, post treatment. I am feeling a little more normal each day and so hopefully normal sleep will come in time soon. I am going to try some of your suggestions. Gotta get me some Sleepytime tea!

My sleep got better at night after I started taking Ambein and Celexa.

I am so greatful for this post - it is 3:29 am and I've been up since 12:30 - this is so annoying - it happens every night - sometimes twice - I go to work with 2 - 2-1/2 hour naps - I am 8 wks post Tx - tonight I'm in a hotel (could be a cause) I use a fan for white noise - and I did have coke at dinner around 7-8 at dinner last night - But it's like Betsy said - my mind goes into overdrive - my thoughts race - I'm not worried about anything and may be nodding of watching tv - but the minute I go to bed - I'm wide awake - and when I do go to sleep I wake up 2 hr later and back to struggling - my muscles also feel affected - like I need to stretch them - they feel weak and like they are drawing up - very uncomfortable - like I need a massage - anyone open at 3 am - I think I'm going to ask for sleep aids next dr visit

I keep telling myself I still have a ways to go before I have to face the permanent wounds of this war - some members seem so brave and calm over facing these outcomes - I have a voice that slips in and constantly asks if it just keeps going down from here

Oh well another busy day tomorrow with 4 hrs sleep :( Thanks for listening

I have chronic insomnia. Pills only work like the first 2 times I use them. I still take them now but still have the same problem. Sometimes I have to sleep in my lazy boy recliner. Sometimes that is better for me I dont now why.
