It can, in severe liver disease, be another collateral damage organ. In fact, renal shut down is an end of life phenomenon.
Do not worry about this! Please. I do not believe you are dealing with renal insufficiency. Let the tests be done, evaluated, & wait for your dr to share with you.
Any diabetes going on? what time do you stop fluids at night? Do you have a uterus that is weighing down on your bladder?...etc

As Ptrissa posted, best to get your blood checked for kidney function, creatine, etc. The sleep disruption is pretty classic with long term living with HCV.
You may have a urinary tract bladder infection too. A Dr. will do a proper assessment.

My creatinine level has been off for months and the recent creatinine clearance test showed problems also. Probably because of the diuretics I'm on for the fluid in my abdomen. When I drop back on the diuretics, the kidney functions readings get a little better. Also with me, since I have had a transplant, the Cyclosporine that I've been on since the transplant can eventually lead to kidney problems, but I have to take it for the rest of my life to avoid my body rejecting the second liver. Seems like with liver disease, one thing leads to another.

It could also be diabetes or a UTI

I wouldn't worry my sis doesn't have kidney probs or hep c and she's up all night too. I have kidney issues stage 4 and hep c 33 years stage 3.. A blood test and urine test and they will have all the results. Best not to worry stress can do allot. Take it one day at a time. Be positive. huggs

I have been worrying about my kidneys for quite some time....
Sometimes they actually hurt.....Yes, I get up several times a night to urinate - but then again I am drinking 6 bottles of water, plus whatever other liquids I may add.

I do almost the exact same thing and it is VERY annoying....Will wake up 2-3am and then continually urinate, even if it is not a lot.....Had UTI for a while, but was on antibiotics for over 1-1/2 months and PCP thinks it is my tx meds - I stopped antibiotics over a weeks ago and agreed to a ultrasound or scan of my pelvic region if it returns.
This meds are very toxic in my belief and I am on week 20 SOV/Riba and I feel like whole body is going thru way too much.
Had to be put on 12.5 hydrochlothiazide (diuretic) for blood pressure as nothing else worked for me as other BP meds caused other lab problems.
Will be glad when this is over......

Since you have had this problem for years, you should get the tests for sure.....

Thanks people. I will mention to my Dr at my yrly Physical, pee in a cup, and get my labs done. After my 6 month post Tx labs, on feb 20th, 2013, I never had any more labs done...I've been neglectful of myself.
I have recently noticed that I can go back to sleep, and actually slept in until 9 am twice this week. This never happened the last say..ten yrs I suffered from Hep C, so that is progress.
My father has been in the hospital, for the first time in his life, and as I worried about him dying, I started worrying about my own health as well. Thanks so much for all the support

If you're creatinine is 1.2 or less then you don't. Creatinine clearance or GFR would be helpful. I am the kidney man here. I think Trissa is the kidney woman. Lay it on us Cassy

Yes bad bad liver failure causes kidney failure. It's called hepatorenal syndrome but you don't have it if you look like this pic. I have a seventh sense there.

I was in NorCal in May. Loved it. OMG drinking thought Mendocino County was INCREDIBLE. So damn gorgeous. We love in a beautiful State.

I know, right??? NorCal and wine country is the shee-ot! I checked my 3 month post labs, and the Creatine, Serum was in normal range. And I was pretty much almost peeing in my pants, my last week of that 28 week Tx! I actually think it might have been my neurotransmitters misfiring, or firing too early? lol....it's like, those last 3 seconds between opening the bathroom door, dropping the drawers, and sitting down on the toilet...get rly iffy! I find myself pursing my upper lips (clamping?)..as if that will help matters down below. More keigals I guess? I am also doing sit-up crunches in the morning, finally getting rid of myTx belly!

OMG I've had a few tonight. That was driving not drinking but yeah wine country baybee!! So beautiful up there.

Also that was live not love but both work there too. Damn we're flexible in California. We are so freakin cool!
