Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
It stays in your RBCs until they are recycled (3-6 months).
That is why the Pharms warn you not to get pregnant or father a child for 6 months.
I am in the same situation as you, day 94 post TX.
Hang in there!
My vision became poorer. I'm thinking that tx just sped up a little bit of my aging process. I can live with it, I guess.
I still don't think the cure is worse.
The other thing is that I am waiting to see an endocrinologist because my thyroid is not functioning at a satisfactory rate since about midway thru treatment.
I still continue to put on weight and increase my pants size. I now understand the physical dynamics of plumbers pants and why their ass is always hanging out.....it is because they are shaped like a cone and their belly is wider than their ass. which is my current shape.
All that being said I feel amazing compared to the way that I felt for the past year, and even for the last few years before treatment. I think sometimes we forget that most of us felt crappy before treatment.....so feeling crappy after treatment but being HCV free is not such a bad deal.
I contracted sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease from treatment.
my eyes were so dry I was using drops all day long.then I started getting a black band of darkness in my right eye across the lower half. I thought it was my retina crashing but it went away finally after a few weeks
i got an email for the dr today, he said " there are some patients who side effects can linger on for some time, even
years. i hope you get better quickly."
At least he admits there are sides!
It is a bitch of a treatment though and for the rest of us it can make our situation worse than it was if we didn't bother at all.
I am a risk taker when it comes to this though because on my dying day I don't want to wonder if I should have tried and didn't.
