Awww bago sweetie......... I'm SO SORRY, but I'm glad u went with your GUT instinct to NOT continue tx. I would betcha the meds WERE the cause of the heart attack! time to let your body heal now. Remember to still listen to your body and take it slow.

I dunno...to me having a "litle heart attack" is like being "a little bit preggos"...is there such a thing...really? Is a little heart attack called that because you didn't expire...are those the perimeters for a little one and a big one? I had posted on the alternative board the permission slip given out by a Hep/GasAss group in I believe in CA that you had to sign before they would start you on the old SOC without the added cherry on top TX mystery syrup. It was so scary I couldn't imagine anybody signing it that was in their right mind. We are all so determined to kill these virons that we more or less throw caution to the wind and depend on our doctors to do the right thing by us. I wouldn't continue, after everything that Pokeman went through all of this is starting to be way to scary. The SOC isnt an option for me so I do the best I can trying to keep my liver happy...the TCM saying "fish don't swim in sterile water" ....meaning if you can get the inflammation in the liver down...get your lfts down and slow the replication of the virons down you can live with this virus as we do with other virus's in our system until less toxic and dangerous drugs come around.

So sorry to hear about the mini heart attack Bago, but I am glad that you're done. Seems to me that they are stopping some trial because of heart problems someone posted, so if that was the one you were on, I'm really glad that you have stopped!
No one can say that you didn't try your hardest Bago. My god the stuff you went through just to get started!

Yes it asamed to. Sorry to hear that. Justr hang in there they have never let me do tx couse I am....well am proun to have seezures and coma following my Mom contacts me twidce a day to make sure I not in a coma or anything. I am vary blessed with an excellant family :--)

I will be going to a cardiologist sept. 3rd, I will continue to be on tx. unless the Dr. tells me I should quit. My husband, I know, does not want me to continue. He's worried. Can't say I blame him. This is my chance to eradicate the virus. My hope is that it doesn't do more damage to me than the virus I'm fighting. Can you say- rock in a hard place? That's where I am. I will do my 5th shot tonight, I know the interferon is the one the heart doesn't like so I'm apprehensive, nope, just plain scared.

We were under the impression that you decided not to take your chances with Tx. I admire your bravery. I did not want to encourage any decisions, but now that you say, you planning to continue, I will say that... cardiac symptoms can be controlled just like any other health issue. Fast heart rate can be controlled wit beta-blockers, for example. I read something about beta-blockers and heat muscular spasms that lead to fatal fibrillation in patients on cocaine- wondering if there any contraindications for Interferon. You need to have a good talk with the cardiologist beyond simple ECG and ask what damage was done if any by this episode, and how he explains it. There are medications that can slow down heart rate. You may like to have that just for the peace of mind, knowing that if your heart rate goes up, you have something to take and slow it down right away. I would also stop all caffeine intake, and any cough/allergy medicine. Valerian Root slows down the heart rate, and is the key ingredient of most heart medications in many countries. People take it to relax and calm down. However, I have read somewhere that it is hepatotoxic. But I have seen many people using it. Ask your MD if this is something that may work. Having rescue medication in your pocket will calm you down and let you focus on your treatment. I always have it with me, just in case. Please, keep us posted.

Bago, do I remember correctly that you had gone off your BP meds.? If that is the case, could that have contributed to the heart attack?

I was without the bp meds for almost 2 weeks. As my husband says- All of the above could have caused this.
You can bet that if I ever even think I'm starting to feel like that again I will be calling 911!
Y'all think about me tonight doing shot #5. I'll be glad to see that cardiologist. Just knowing I am going makes me feel a little bit better.
Anyone know anything about the numbers on an ekg? I think I'll do some homework on the net.

Bago jumping in here too. So sorry to hear. I just read about you on another thread and looked to see if you posted one yourself. Wow. Glad they're thinking that it was a small MI. The difference btw a small one and large one is the amount of tissue damage. They will likely order an ECG and a cardiac echo when you see your Cardiologist. They would've confirmed with blood tests looking at troponin levels and CPKs. Did they start you on low-dose aspirin and give you nitroglycerin? You can google all those terms and prolly already have. I worked in Cardiology for a while. Again so sorry to hear. That's pretty scary. I started getting significant fatigue three days ago but not seeming as bad now. :-(

Oh Bago, I'm sorry too. Whew! Well, that's a lesson to me to NOT stop my BP meds when doing tx. Why did you stop taking yours? Doctor told you to? (did I miss it?) Anyway, you are a braveheart to carry on, and we are here for you - always.
