Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
You wouldnt be normal if you werent scared. At least you found Daily Strength. This site is awesome with any question or concerns you may have. Best wishes on your journey to all the newbies. There are a bunch of people here that are on treatment, are already done with treatment and waiting to see if the virus is gone, and those who have cleared the virus, and also those who have relapsed again with hep c. So you see the wide array of experience you will get on here:)
Here you will get great support, and meet members who are just about starting tx, and some that went thru it, and have manage to kill the beast, and some that didn't, sadly enough.
You should be grateful that you are eligible for treatment, many here can't even go on the meds, due to advance stage, so take it one day at the time.
Think of it has a journey towards being healthy again.
