I'm going to see the doc tomorrow, because I'm still feeling some annoying symptoms that seem to point to thyroid. My TSH levels have been high throughout tx and didn't come down much when I finished.
So I'm brushing up on thyroid stuff so I can impress the witch doctor tomorrow... and I came across an article that says: "Some medications can cause a person to develop hypothyroidism by interfering with the production of the thyroid hormone. These include amiodarone (a heart medication), lithium (a bipolar disorder medication), and interferon alpha (a cancer medication)". Interferon. Hmmmm. Where have I heard that before.

I have not found a dr yet that has figured out my thyroid. It must be a very powerful & mysterious gland. This hcv dragoon messes everything up.

Jack, if you haven't already, see an Endocrinologist about your thyroid. My liver doc didn't even pretend that he might know something about my thyroid so he did the right thing and referred me to a thyroid specialist - Endocrinologist.

Maybe I should go back to college and become a gastroendincrinologist.....i'd specialize in treating people with a messed up thyroid from HCV

Jack... another clueless doctor.....what a surprise! I figure that it is just time to embrace my inner Oompa Loompa! At the rate I am going my waist will be three times my height by Christmas.

I thought I would lose weight, tis why I gained an extra 10 lbs prior to tx... I can eat anything and everything!! No weight loss going on here. I see my TSH will be checked as well tomorrow w/my labs.

myself 2 months post treatment and feeling jacked up. I was hyper at week 2 and hypo at the end. I have all the symptoms of an irregular thyroid, weak, tired, drowsey, irregular apatite, and then I start to think: wait these are damn near the same as treatment sides. I felt bad before treatment and I'm worried it may be back. I was SVR at end of treatment so I am hoping it's thyroid. Yes, hoping my thyroid is jacked. Going to Thyroid doc on the 7th we will see. thanks for this post, it is on my mind every day, and almost every hour. Thanks for the link too! Sorry to complain and not offer solutions.

I wish we knew which symptoms were from the Hep C and which were from the tx. I don't think the doctors know. I just saw an article the other day that said they think the "flu-like symptoms" are from the hep c and not from the tx. I can believe that since my joints are all hurting eight months post tx and my hep c came back.
