An uncanny % of us have thyroid or possible thyroid symptoms. Some before tx. I'm sure all the parts are connected by a string or something. My T3 was abnormal before tx.
Hope the witch dr has exactly the right voodoo medicine for you.

thanks for posting this. my thyroid was normal all through treatment but somebody on here said we need to have a TSH test to be sure it's normal ? i haven't had one so next time i go in going to ask for one.

Yes thyroid problems is a common problem
with hep C and with interferon.
I was hypo before TX and is still
bad now . but it's real bad now.
It's just one pill a day to keep it under control.
no big deal.

I need to get over it, but before I started tx my TSH was 1.9 on a reference range of 0.35 - 5.5. Oh, at about 36 weeks GI decides to cgeck it again and it was 25.5!!! I hadn't gained any weight, but I hadn't lost any either. My blood pressure was only 100/70 and I moved like a snail (more so than normal for tx) . Went to endocrinologist and he started me on Levothroid right away. Some symptoms went away within a week. I'm a little pissed, but like I said, I just need to get over it. Most likely it will not go away after tx, but I'm hanging on to the chance that it will.
ANYWAY, I'm sorry to hear this, but if they start you on what endocriinologist call "tx" it should have you feeling better soon.

moineau, was the weight gain gradual? Thanks for the site. It answered questions about my mom who has thyroid issues. She's 83 and falls alot and they said she had dementia well maybe not.

ok.......... I'm gaining weight on this round of tx. I thought it might be water weight! Sense I have all my labs from start to prior......... I'm gonna look at thyroid #'s. Should they be high or low for hypothyroidism? What am I looking for?

Hep C started pushing me towards hypo before I started TX but, when I started the TX meds, it pushed me directly into hypo and I started levothyroxine for it...one pill a day. It's a very easy pill to take and it does the trick just fine. Usually a very easy fix.

Cindy, if you are hypothyroid then your TSH will be high.

Moineau sorry to hear that...............I still can't read all the side effects cause I figure we don't have many options......................so now I deal with the kidney being off...not good more labs tomorrrow and may have to see a kidney Dr. if they do not get stable.....................keep us posted K

Jack, in looking at the link, I see that it is Canadian. As Americans we know that although our northern neighbors are nice people, they don't know what their talking about when it comes to such things as healthcare and guns.

After all they have "universal healthcare" (aka- SOCIALIST, aka COMMUNIST) and they don't like to shoot each other with their guns as much as we do here (Pacifists, aka- SOCIALIST, aka COMMUNIST).

Canadians are nice enough people, don't get me wrong Jack. But I am certain that if Interferon had any negative potential health consequences our government would not let doctors give to us here in the US.

OK, truth be told....I'm still a little bitter at Canada because when the US Supreme Court said that George Bush was our president I decided that I wanted to move to Canada and your government told me NO!! They were like NO WAY!!!! We don't want you moving here and stealing jobs from hard-working Canadians. Canadians are so intolerant of immigrants, next they'll be wanting to build a wall or a big fence on their border to keep people out! Why can't y'all be more like the US?

OK....in all seriousness....it seems that treatment toasted my thyoid and I now have hypothyroidism! Over the last 8 weeks of treatment I put on 30 pounds! My friends all think that I am actually going to give birth any day, but I just tell them that my doctor says that my metabolism has slowed way down and he thinks I am full of shit! That stops them from asking me any more questions....

So how did the doctor visit go?
