Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

High iron load generally predicts a low IFN response. However, after treatment, whether successful or not, iron stores diminish.
Also, it was suggested that a person lower iron through phlebotomy (blood letting) before treatment for a high chance of success.
I'm not suggesting that a person should strive to be anemic. I'm saying that I believe that since it has been shown that the virus uses iron among other things to replicate, that being low in iron might be beneficial.

I tried the regular groats that weren't cut and they had no flavor....don't know what that was about. So I've been buying the 50 pound bags of organic steel cut for years now.
