Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I think it's a good idea for those that have really compromised health or are old...I have never had one and don't plan on getting one any time soon. I'm a bit suspicious of them but I tend to be on the paranoid side.

I had all my childhood vaccines -- found out yesterday I've been sick for 5 weeks with whooping cough. My kids, who haven't been vaccinated but eat healthy, didn't get it.
