No NSAIDS???

Wow, I been taking celebrex for 10 years, took it every day during 40 week Victrelis therapy, and all the doctors knew it and no one said to stop celebrex.

Is the issue that NSAIDS + tylenol + cold meds in combination cause too much toxicity, or a single daily nsaid without other meds is also bad.

but i guess you have to pick your poison, the celebrex lets me walk

I wish everyone could witness a death from alcohol and liver failure.

My ex brother in law was hospitalized 3 times and told each time that he had to quit drinking and he had to do it right now! That his liver was shot, his kidneys weren't too far behind, and if he didn't quit, he would die. Plain and simple as that.
The next time he was hospitalized, he was in there for about 3 weeks... and he died.
He was 34 years old....

I had no damage 10 years ago, and I drank occasionally--sometimes to excess--now I have cirrhosis. I'm sure the alcohol didn't help. There's no way to know what this virus is going to do. If you do decide to drink, you need to be very diligent about monitoring your enzymes. I wish I could turn back the clock.

When I was diagnosed with C back in 2009, my Dr told my to "cut back" on my alcohol consumption. I was told my liver was in pretty good shape, so I did nothing and continued to drink heavily. In the 2 years that followed my fibrosis got much worse. I stopped one week before tx, and found that with a solid reason (tx) to stop, it wasn't that hard. If you can do it, stop drinking now and maybe wait for better tx to come along. If you decide to do 3tx now, you'll HAVE to stop drinking. If you can't let go of the alcohol I can't offer any advice other than good luck, you're gonna need it...

check the web - - are you not up on what HCV does? Or what drinking does even to a healthy liver?

SAme here Jester. My Dr. told me as I had HCV for 30 years at that time, and my enzymes were low taht I would most likely die from something else and moderate consumption of alcohol would be okay. I would share a bottle of wine on weekends. Have cocktails when on holiday or a martini out at dinner. Never inebriated, just moderate enjoyment.
Five years later he tested my enzymes again and they had spiked. I cut out alcohol altogether, failed SOC and now have cirrhosis

Eyore, are you a beer drinker? I found that non alcohol brew is pretty good. Not recommended on tx because it contains a trace of alcohol but now that I'm finished tx I'll have one now and then. St Pauly makes a good one...

Also when out at dinner now and if I feel like a cocktail I have a Virgin Mary or a tonic water with a few drops of Angostura bitters ( that does have alcohol in it but just a few drops pretty well makes it lever friendly)

My opinion is either spend ur $ on tx or waste it on alcohol. Ur choice ur grown. It's not rocket science. I'm an addict myself heroin but clean for a yr right now. Don't like AA/NA don't go so not gonna comment on that for me 5 yrs n prison did it for me

I was never a heavy drinker, but my doc told me to cut alcohol entirely after my HCV diagnosis. For the three years that I waited to start treatment, I probably had 1-2 glasses of wine or beer 3-4 days a week; overdid it about once a month.

But at the same time, I was running 3-4 days a week, eating well and juicing; so I was otherwise taking really good care of myself.

My VL went from 12M to 2M during this period. My liver stayed at 2 on the 0-4 scale.

On treatment, I haven't touched a drop. Too much at stake.

I think that most docs advise NO alcohol because that is THE safest alternative. I mean, if they tell you it's OK to have three drinks a week, and your liver gets worse, or your treatment fails, well...they might get sued.

All that being said, my guess is that your liver won't be in great shape for long if you hit it too hard; and once that happens treatment is harder.

Or non existant bivalve if one continues to drink heavily.......maybe a liver transplant would be the only option??????? But they don't accept drinkers, livers are hard to come by and if alcohol is in ur system, NO LIVER.
This scares the shit outta me, and is why I don't and won't drink. Well, maybe a lil drink 3x a year? I don't want to lie.

OK people, i'm getting the point. Drinking is not good. I will definetly take all your responeses into consideration. I know drinking is not smart. But a few positive remarks as far as helping me instead of ostrisiton (sp) me would go along way. Thank you. Larry
