hi, sorry you're going through all this. read all you can about the virus. read old posts on here, check out books from the library and buy books from amazon. it helps to get knowledge...will calm your fears.

I'm sorry. It is hard for me to see my husband cry too. Just try to take it one day at a time. I too was a wreck when I found out I had hep c last August. It takes awhile to digest. Now I am in week 29 of 48. not on the triple.
I have very minimal side effects. My rash is kinda bad and my hair is falling out but it could be worse. So not everyone on treatment has an awful time. My husband also has it but his biopsy was not near as bad as mine. So he is waiting for awhile at least until I finish. I've decided to just live my life and be as happy as I can and not let any of this ruin it. I will say a prayer for your family tonight. Love and hugs

I got through tx (24 wks) and I survived. I even detoxed relatively quick, less than a month and I was up and running just like before tx., even better. My hair only thinned but hell I'm almost 55, what do ya expect at that age ? I'm also diabetic. I control it with oral meds and diet. You do have to be extra vigilant about checking your B.Sugar but it is all doable. ALL the side effects are manageable with meds and diet as long as you keep your Dr. and G.I. aware of things.
Being diabetic, it is a good idea (according to my Primary Dr.) to get your flu, pneumonia, hep a, and b, shots. A and B yes but the others are just a matter of personal choice.
Don't worry :) you can do this. !!! I did it and lots and lots of others have. You wont know the outcome till you get to the other end and to do that you have to start.

jfo624..... Try to overlook your husband's sadness and try to be the positive force in his life (which I'm sure you are already doing). The more the two of you learn about how to manage his diabetes and the more you learn about Hep C, the less fear you will have. In fact, you both will come to have no fear about either of these diseases. Do not let the diseases own you. Take charge and live your lives and find JOY. Remember to never let JOY slip out of your lives no matter what the situation.

I think it was Quasar that her brought herself some silver earrings after she took her first shot in treatment?.. But, it doesn't matter who or what, but every time you take a step, treat yourself to something. I enjoyed that post and that is what I plan to do to help me get through whatever is coming up!

I'm HCV & diabetic. Diabetes & HCV seems to go hand in hand. Will he do treatment? Main thing is regularly checking his glucose and find out what shape his liver is in thru blood tests & liver biopsy if doc recommends it. Your hubby will be find. He just needs to calm down. Take one step at a time. Learn as much as you can to make an information decision. Great people on this group to help ya'll. Hugs.

Yes . He wll be starting treatment after the biopsy and bloodtest of what type . He has type 2 snd controls it by diet and exerice . But it sound like the meds are a struggle snd he has to work out for his sugar .. Why does diab snd hep c go hand in hand

sorry jfo,,,just pull u're self together..we were all blown away of the news of this horrible virus...just watch his diet for his diabetes and that will suffice for the hep also..get all the bloodwork and probably a biopsy to see where he stands..just 1 day at a time...sweet jesus...thats all i ask...

This disease brings many emotions and you just have to work through them. Wait for all the test to come back and prepare yourself with knowledge about hcv and tx. This is the best sight for us heppers. We treat, don't treat, relapse, reach svr but the main thing is support. We walk the road and function everyday. Doc's and the reps know squat about this but we do. Hope you and your hubby can find some peace. Good luck on your journey!

type 2 diabetes here, oral med control. i was told the hep c could have brought the DM on... and to cure the hep c will cure the DM...(I do have other risk factors)
the biggest thing is your husband's diagnosis comes at a good time in the history of this disease. this summer marks the beginning of some very successful drugs to treat this virus. it has given a lot of us hope for the future
