Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
To each his own on this, but I am so lucky to not only be alive but to be cured of HCV - I'd never drink a drop of booze again.
I live each day as if it were my last knowing it one day will be.
I don't advocate drugs or alcohol to anyone.
If I choose to enjoy something, I feel blessed to be able to acquire it and be able to enjoy it in a comfortable and clean environment.
I will do as I want until the day I am put into my coffin, which I am currently shopping for online .
It's odd being around people who drink when you don't. Not drinking and being part of the "party", it's fascinating to watch. It really changes how people behave.
If you're drinking you don't really notice, but when you're the sober one things really look different.
New to the group, been part of the Cirrhosis forum for years but it has faded away so came here. If I'm out of line, let me know.
The OP was about having a drink after SVR. NOT about having an alcohol disorder or drinking in excess. There is a humongous difference between having a cold beer or a margarita and drinking till you black out. I've personally done both but I'm of the opinion that a cocktail on occasion is OK if you're healthy.
It's funny to hear that this group doesn't seem very active. The cirrhosis forum could go 4-5 days without a post, so time to move on.
Not a Hep C patient, but this seemed like a nice group to step into. A few of the cirrhosis forum members mentioned it, so I'll give it a try for a bit.
Although of course with my Yoda avatar, "Try not. Do or do not, there is no try" so you've got me for a while.. :)
