I have found that I am isolating myself, moreso in the first 8 weeks. I didn't want people to see the sick weakling I have become. I was a busy person , on the fly all the time, Looked good and happy but since treatment I have aged about 10 years. Too weak sometimes to even comb my hair. Walk with a cane for support. An unknowing waitress referred to me as my husband's Mom and that did me in so If I'm able to go out, it's to my family, closest friends or where no one knows me. People who I thought were close friends have avoided contacting me and those whom I never thought to hear from have called out of the blue. You never know who your friends are. But I'm waiting. When all this is done and I have my energy back to a reasonable level, I'll be looking for new friends and thanking the ones who supported me throughout.

I always try to do what I can with what energy I have, every day is different, that's the one thing I know for sure, and I'm not on tx right now, but this virus is making me totally exhausted! Mood and physical ramifications of tx certainly do change your desire to socialize or be able to do anything productive, but every day is different!

I have been on triple for 5 and a half months......I have not spoken to anyone for 3 entire months other then my wife and kids....because family and friends just dont get it and most of us know that..............

Last time VL done around 6 weeks ago still not UNDIE,If not UNDIE in 2 odd weeks have to stop and my outcome is very very grim.....

But in saying all this yesterday I was at breaking point,I mean just a mad breakdown......By the night I calmed down and realised that something has to give.....So after not seeing anyone for 3 mths I met all family yesterday and went through everything,I just could not harber my anger for another day.....it was the hardest thing I have done but I feel so much better.....

I have now put my pride and anger in the cupboard until this is over ...My suggestion is when you are ready re contact people slowly but if you are not then wait.......

I had no choice because I only sleep 2.5 to 3.5 hrs a night and I had to release the anger,,I feel so much better,just hope I can stay the course........

Treatment is a very isolating experience Chronic illness is a very isolating experience. As you begin to feel better, you will probably want to socialize more. I found that even when I was most sick and didn't want anyone to come over, I still felt better when they did. When my son was very sick though, I didn't want anyone but my kids around me. Especially my friends who are big talkers. I just wanted quiet. No advice, no pearls of wisdom, just quiet understanding. Sometimes the people who sit by our sides and say nothing, just are "there," are the best kind of folks to have around. Socializing, can be exhausting. Especially on treatment!

Sounds like everyone's going through the same stuff. LOL...I'm surprised at how much I want to rip people's heads off for the smallest thing. I can keep it in check for a while, but it's draining.

It'll all be over soon... :-)

Folks, I'm a 10-yr SVR - but remember it all so well. What you're going through -the isolation, irritability, little patience with others, the downright bitchiness at times..(ha)...it's ALL normal with this treatment, so fear not! BTW, it took about another year (post tx) before I felt like my old self again...hope this provides some reassurance to someone ~
