Yes for many months and I have to thank my partner for coming home every night for company. Gave me a reason to get off the bed and cook supper for us, watch a little TV.
If I had been alone I think I might just have stayed in bed 24/7 ..no kidding! Sleep was and still sometimes is a welcome escape from the effects of the drugs

I feel isolated but it has nothing to do with treatment...just choices I'm made that led me to where I am today.

I do hope you get your groove back when you're done with tx.

I feel very isolated even though I am around people all day. I've become very sensitive and when I try to talk to my friend about how I feel she says to quit "whining". So I come here and whine. Makes me feel better.

I bet when you feel better your social life will bounce back. That's what I'm counting on.

I am very isolated. I have avoided going to many gatherings, dinners, birthday parties, etc. I don't call anyone. I work because I have to but really wish I could take a sabbatical. I really only see my wife and my two children and many times I feel like I would rather not see them. I told my wife this weekend that I am a shell of a person right now. I use to wake up early on Saturday AM so energized and excited about the day ahead and have projects and activities all lined up. No I sleep and watch sports on TV and try not to snap at anyone. I believe what JoeP said that no matter how you feel that you must put effort in to be social and/or extend yourself in ways that may be uncomfortable, but at the same time be OK with saying no sometimes and giving yourself the rest/time isolation that you need to heal. Its a difficult balancing act.

One other thing. This week I started thinking that when treatment is over that I may consider canceling cable and not watching TV anymore. I have watched so much TV in the past 90 days that I am sick of it, but strangely addicted to it.

Lol. I have plans to dump my TV and NOT spend much time at home after tx is over...

The isolation sucks. You got out and drag your ass back in. I got gas and went to bank - waahoooo, Need food thats another day trip. I am months post tx and sleep sucks. Its different for everyone depending on sides and your medical issues.

It will improve - just not as fast as we want. Hang in there

I've watched more TV in the last four months than I have in the last 10-15 years. I need it for 56 more days, then....punt :-)

do what you can, do not give in to the blahs.....
get out of the house...
if you come right back in, thats ok, just get out for ten minutes.......
soon, you can do it every day...
take an easy walk.....its good for your lungs....gets your blood circulating.....
try to stay close to home if you are alone, take your phone if ya have one, and a bottle of water.....and please consider wearing a hat. some lite cotton long sleeved clothing and sunscreen.....

I feel the same way, Bivalve... There are very few times that I actually WANT to socialize, and it's mostly with family and a few close friends.
I think that because treatment "zaps" us so hard, it's kind of a self-preservation mode that kicks in. Any situation that may take what little energy I have, I avoid like the plague! Even at the grocery store, if there are too many people in an aisle, I will skip that one and come back later...
It's probably not good to isolate as much as I do, but I don't really care right now. Really, I am quite okay with it! I'm with you- Once I am done with treatment, maybe I will be back to my old self-
I get plenty of socializing right here for now- with people who "get" me. LOL!! ((HUGS))

I have self isolated too, but not 100%. I have found it's easier & more tolerable to be around 1 -maybe 2 - people at a time, and only on days when I feel like it. Sometimes my son would come over & I would manage to cook us something for dinner & we would watch a movie. Or on a decent afternoon, maybe I'd feel like walking over to a friend's house to visit for 1/2 hr on her porch. There's just something going on mentally w/this crap that affects your personality. I'd find myself at the grocery store thinking things about the people in the store like "will you move to one f......ng side or the other of the aise", or what a ridiculous hairdo, or outfit,..... or thinking ALL the cashiers are busy yakking w/people rather than do their jobs.. impatience to the umpth degree. Stopped going to church because I couldn't stand being surrounded by so many people. I'm n 14th week now and have noticed things getting a little better. Not as anti-social (during the day only tho) & less feverish and achy. Anemia is worse tho. Hopefully that will ease up soon. It also helps that it's getting warmer, sunnier, less rainy. The sun always lifts my spirits & almost MAKES me get outside. Yesterday I walked to town & bought a few plants & planted them in my pots out on my balcony. it felt like a major accomplishment.

I think we have to do what we have to do. It is good to force ourselves sometimes - but not always. I have forced myself to go out on a short walk sometimes when I didn't feel like it, and was glad I did. Even if it was for only 10 -15 min.

I didn't mean for my reply to be so long-winded. This is where I come to socialize now. Bring my water bottle & cell phone & good to go - er, stay.
Today I'm going to be socializing w/the verizon guy who's switching everything over to fios, including tv. Should be a long, boring 6-8 hrs!!
Hope he isn't a lively, talkative type.

I moved out to the country 3 years ago from the city. It took me a while to get used to living with a lot less people. But now I like it. I try to do something every day. Go for walks, fish the lake. I have to deal and work around the way I feel. I know its only temporary, but I try to keep moving forward.

I used to love people in general. I got great pleasure just seeing people and the things they do. I enjoyed the interaction. It was a cheap afternoon and a great time just going and watching people at the mall. Now I tolerate people and only if I really have to. It has become a chore just going to the PO Box. I hope I don't run into anyone I know cause I would have to be polite, say hello, and maybe even chat a minute! Eeks...I do hope to get back to my old self someday! Not to mention the strain it has put on the relationship and new marriage. I am not the same person!
