Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Wow, I was just reading some of the postings and although HepC is evil, you still have fun.
I am a single mom 54, two children son 24 and daughter 15. I was diagnosed with B when my son was born. I built up antibodies and fought it off. I take my last B shot in March. Just had my third biopsy in 24 years in August. Still a stage 1, grade 1. Genotype 2b. Was deathly ill with B and just suffer with fatigue with C. Just got results on viral load, 10 million 2 hundred thousand. Was going to start treatment in September but was discovered I have Heredity Hemochromatosis - iron overload. I have to be de-ironed before treatment - so I have a pint of blood drained every three weeks. My iron levels are finally starting to drop so may be starting treatment sooner than later. Good news with genotype 2b is treatment is 6 months.
The good thing about treatment being delayed is - - my children and I are traveling to NYC in March. My daughter is playing Carnegie Hall and I won't be sick from the side affects and will be able to enjoy the concert and the city.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

Routine dental work
Annual physical.
Mammo and Pap, if due soon, etc.
Might look at the Hep A vaccine (there are two, 6 months apart), especially since you had HBV, too. HAV can be caught from undercooked and raw foods.
I also got a shingles shot, pneumonia vaccine, and the H1N1 vaccine. Your immunity will be compromised, so if you can afford to take the precautions, DO IT!!

I've started deep cleaning my house and getting badly needed maintenance done because I know once tx starts I probably won't feel like doing it.
I have had Hep A, B and now C with Hemochromatosis thrown in just to make sure I stay tough. I was bedridden for seven months with B. Tthat is what scares me about this - being that sick again. Truthfully, it's not the disease but treatment that scares the shit out of me. I do know a few people who have had minimal symptoms on tx and I know a few who have all of the symptoms. I'm sure I'll do okay - I'm tough and a fighter, just scared of being sick again. On the bright side, geno 2b treats for 24 weeks.
