Hemochromatosis Support Group
Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
3) slight joint pain (mostly fingers)
6) not indigestion but did have IBS type symptoms until I was deironed.
(I'm C282Y/C282Y)
1) bone loss or osteoporosis; a grinding sensation in your joints when you move around.
No bone loss that I'm aware of.
2) your body can't seem to tolerate any kind of vitamin or nutritional supplement---or you are very sensitive to supplements and just can't tolerate them.
I haven't had this experience with supplements, but I get sick to my stomach when I eat eggs, bananas, avocados, and milk.
3) your joints hurt
mainly my wrists, but I sometimes have pain in my hips and knees too.
4) your bones feel like they are coming kind of loose out of the socket; like your shoulder sockets aren't holding your arm bone in place very well. Or---leg bones in the hip socket or knee sockets.
I feel this sometimes with my hips.
5) trouble sleeping---wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep?
I wake up during the night frequently, usually to use the restroom. This actually has decreased somewhat since my first phleb a couple weeks ago.
6) chronic indigestion
I go though periods where I get indigestion almost every day and then others where I have no issues. I used to try acid reducers which would help somewhat. But I heard somewhere that sometimes people who experience heartburn actually do not have enough acid to digest protein, instead of too much acid like many people believe. I tried taking food enzymes with meals which helped. I have stopped taking the enzymes but I get indigestion a lot less frequently than I used to.... not really sure if there is any significance here or not.
I can also relate to the feeling of loose joints I sometimes feel that in my wrists and shoulders.
I have trouble sleeping and never seem to get a full nights rest. I cannot get comfortable because of pains in my hands and arms.
i have always had disestion prooblems but only now realise they may have been related to HH.
