Hi Blondie, wish everything goes well with you and you feel better and better soon. I'm scheduled for next Monday for blood letting but they want to do additional blood work and I am not sure because they are not clear enough. They are very surprised about my "unique" combination of blood results and now they want to run a lot more test using the excuse of the blood letting. Not sure if I want to do this Blondie...I think I will meditate on this since I have a bad feeling

Hi Jorge, sorry you are feeling so uneasy about this whole ordeal.. It's like you want to know but you don't.. it's very tiring to go through all of this shit, it took the Doctor's​ 8 months to diagnose me. I would say give it a little more time, hopefully the Doctors are on the right path.. Did they do a DNA test for Hemochromatosis? What about your heart?? I would be very concerned about that.. I have a terrible family history of Cardiomyopathy sending my family to a early grave.. I don't want to scare or upset you but you really need to get the heart checked out. I'm going to see a Cardiologist next Tuesday right after my phlebotomy session, hope they don't try to put me on the treadmill, I may just fly off. haha My last phlebotomy the nurse said my 16 oz. Bag of blood weighed 3 lbs. Can you believe that?? Crazy! It's 2:30 am. so I say goodnight. Got to get up tomorrow for Hepatitis A and B shots.. the fun never stops in Illinois but, the rain finally did!!:). Please let me know what is going on with you.. take care Jorge. Blondiegirl*

Jorge ferritin >500 is high. Some of us here just have insanely high ferritin. Did they do the genetic lab on you? If not there's a site that can do it privately. 23&me.com . Some doctors refuse to believe Hemochromatosis is the issue. Took me 10 years before that word was spoken and confirmed.

Hi guys. Just FYI. Other than avoiding the raw sea food, only because it can introduce certain bacteria that a compromised liver can't deal with, any other dietary changes have next to no effects. Even a heavy ref meat eater who consumes a high heme iron diet only consumes 2 or 3 ng of iron daily. And as phlebotomy removes 30 - 40 per draw and more in some cases, you'd have to be consuming super amounts to have numbers go up. The hemotologist/oncologist who quaterbacks my treatment has told me unless I want to change my diet it's unnecessary. Just something to think about....don't have to give it all up foodwise!

Hi, my name is Parrotlet, 78 and Caucasian. I don't know how to use this format yet so if I'm intruding on a private conversation please tell me. I wrote once before but the forum didn't publish it or, that seemed to be the case. Anyway, since I was born with this and in my 70's started getting all these "age" spots or so the doctors kept insisting. I just knew they were wrong somewhere so I pretty much pushed my doctor into giving me a FULL blood panel never having the Ferion (sp? part as I assume it much be quite expensive and doctors try and stay away from charging that much. I really don't know for sure as I don't pay anything for medical, just Medicare (not even the 20%. You're not going to believe what my level was; 800+. Finally, after all these years ( 4) I finally had a diagnosis! The doctor still won't give me physicals, say's I'm always in to see her and that "isn't" true sooo, it's time for pushing again. Of course, I have pretty much all your symptoms but no cancer or liver problems. I have never smoked and very little drinking, mostly MaiTais (G) My husband lived in Hawaii for 10 years (he was a civil engineer for Bechtel) and Norm and I couldn't wait for weekends to go on a balcony in Waikiki and watch the sunsets...Back to present, I had a bowel blockage about 3 years ago and basically, all my stomach and intestines gave away. I had 1.5 hours to live upon arriving at the hospital so I have to confess was dealing with two problems after a huge surgery. After the HOMOC discovery, I was rushed into intabation and after about a year, brought my level down to 20 but it's pushed up again to 50. Yes, diet (for me anyway) has it's rules (lots of them along with the surgery) I'm sure you both can imagine and, I don't always stay on it (G) Life can be very boring at 78 but I do as much as possible. Can walk find even with an artificial hip (even dance, etc) Have had that for 2 years but life is really good except for when I lost my husband of 60 years 4 years ago. Nobody can survive that, really. We married in High School (no college for Normie poo) How he became a civil engineer is another long story.
