we usally spend monthly close to 400 a month and thats just buying food no junk no pop just the food we can live off of.

Yeah, it's ridiculous! Sometimes we go to a farmer's market to buy fruits and veggies because they're fresher and cheaper.

I've never been, no.

I'm a seasoned charity shop bargain hunter :) The only trouble with it is that you have to keep checking the shops regularly to catch the real bargains. And it gets frustrating when you find the perfect jacket but in the wrong size.

But I've managed to snap up some great office clothes on the cheap. You just have to be a bit disciplined with yourself otherwise you can end up with a big pile of clothes that would be perfect if you could just find time to alter them ...................

I USE TO BUY GROCERIES EVERY 2 WEEKS BUT I HAVE DECIDED TO GO EVERY SUNDAY AND BUY ENOUGH FOR THE WEEK..MAYBE ITLL CUT DOWN BC IM SPENDING WAY TO MUCH GOING EVERY 2 WEEKS AND THAT DOESNT COUNT THE TIMES WHEN I FORGET SOMETHING OR NEED SOMETHING ELSE AND I HAVE TO GO BACK I BUY MS BAIRDS WHEAT AND WHITE (2 DIF LOAVES CHANNING WONT AT WHEAT AND I WONT EAT WHITE) AND THEY ARE BOTH 2.39 MILK IS ABOUT 3.59 BUT I HAVE SEEN SOME MILK ALL THE WAY UP TO 7 DOLLARS! NO JOKE!! NOW I MAKE A MENU OF WHAT WE ARE GOING TO EAT EVERY NIGHT I THINK ITS SAVING US A LOT OF MONEY FROM WHAT I CAN TELL

CC, that's a good idea. I make a menu of what we're going to eat, too and take it from there. We don't have to follow it every day, but at least I know I have food to make all these meals.

Wow, that's a lot - food basics are still quite cheap over here, I just have to shop around for the best deals on fresh veggies and fruit.

I grow my own herbs and some wild rocket in the garden, at least that saves me having to buy those over-priced salad bags in the shops.

I REALLY LIKE THE IDEA..I HAVE TO HAVE ALOT OF ORDER IN MY LIFE OR I GET ALL NERVOUS...LOL I KNOW ODD! IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD KNOWING THAT EVERYTHING IS ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF AND I WONT HAVE TO GO IN THE KITCHEN AND TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT I NEED TO DO! EVERY PART OF OUR LIVES IS PLANNED LOL NO JOKE!! I GOT THE IDEA MY MOM STARTED MAKING MENUS WHEN SHE WATED TO DIET!! AHH MAYBE I SHOULD MAKE SOME STEW THIS WEEKEND! NICE WEATHER FOR IT !

Our lives are planned too CC.It drives my husband crazy sometimes because if my plans get messed up I am screwy....LOL

My mom gave me the idea of making up the menus too! She is very organized. I'm somewhat organized. My husband and I together are organized and we do plan and try to save money, even more so now with our daughter. The thing is, I love to spend money! I see things that I want and I feel like I have to buy it - gotta have that new pocketbook, those new shoes, etc.

How sad that Americans are now forced to eat less to be able to afford to fill our cars' tanks with gas! Oh, well, we've been living high on the hog for so long that it's about time we became like the rest of the world. And eating light would probably do a lot of us a favor. I too have cut down to one big meal a day, and bike everywhere so, most of the time, the car sits in the driveway. But I work from home and don't have to sit in an office 5 days a week (so far, thank God).
