i'm sure this has been addressed before, but I'm curious as to what you people consider acceptable frequency of sex in a relationship (not including playing with ourselves to porn).
Only been in what I'd consider one relationship, and she seemed to be happy if we got together once every two to three weeks for our little make-out sessions. But she's 47, a year older than I, and she's working a lot, in a nail salon, where there are toxic fumes, so I'm sure that adversely affects her physical and mental health.
My sexual "education", all through my 20s, was porn, and I feel like porn gives us a distorted, warped view of sexuality, where it seems everyone is hypersexed and humping like rabbits 6-7 times a day, every day. Obviously, a real relationship, especially after a few months, is a bit more "sedate".
So, married and coupled folks, while your answers are sure to vary, please help me out here. I have no reference.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I believe if in a serious relationship, I would require at least twice a week, preferably more 3-4 times a week not ruling out multiple sessions each time, woohoo I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once, as I always was. LOL
You have my condolences! I'm sure you love your wife, and I hope things improve.
I dated a Vietnamese woman, very beautiful, kind lady...was told right off the bat that she works very hard, but I met her, was instantly enamored, and plunged in anyway, whereas she was always "meh" lukewarm toward me, I think KINDA likes me but she's just too busy working.
She works in a nail salon, and I've been in there, find it hard to breathe, so the toxic fumes surely take a toll on her physical and mental health. I tried to get her to exercise with me, but she's so tired when she gets home after 10 hours in that place that she just wants to sleep. My heart goes out to her, and i still adore her and think she's SOOO pretty, but this ain't a very interesting life she's leading, and she doesn't seem to want to, or feel able to, do anything to change it. Thankfully, we didn't get married. I even proposed and she said "eehhhhh..." She either ain't that into me, is too busy, or both. I wish her well, but am moving on.
Boy, you hit the nail on the head, there, bigguy. Sometimes I'm cool without bumping uglies...I just need a BRAIN to enjoy bumping into...good, stimulating conversation.
For me acceptable would be multiple times a week, at the very least 3, more would be much better. Stbxh and my relationship didn't become more sedate after months or after many years (27 years). Our slow down and eventual halt to sex was due to other relationship problems, not his or my sex drive or our want for sex. The only time we had sex less than 3 times a week was at times during illness, when I had surgeries and couldn't do anything, one of the kids was hospitalized or very sick, something on that order. An average week, 4 or 5 times a week was normal for us to have sex.
Scott and I, when we're together for 3 to 4 weeks at a time, sex is every day, many times multiple times a day. Once we're living together, I could see it slowing down a little but not by much. I'd say some type of partner sex will still take place most days.
I've never been with a partner that our libidos weren't matched very well. It's not just about quantity for me, it's about lots of quality sex.
I haven't had any in 11 months. I wouldn't complain if it was everyday. :)
Care to elaborate, get more specific, leather lol?
I think I have some pretty good ideas what you two do together, but I'm sure others would appreciate some enlightenment.
It could be any kind of sex act from the simple to the extreme. It could be as simple as just oral sex, mutual masturbation, it could be sex toys or sex devices used on me, him or both of us, anal play or anal sex on me or using a strap-on on him, bondage with sex play, fire & ice play, sexual pain stimulation, fisting, domination, the list goes on and on.
As Crusty said, sex includes any and all sexual activity. If it's done with the intent to sexually arouse, sexually pleasure and satisfy, it's sex in my book.

Bob: Yes, when we were 21 and perpetually horny, it didn't matter who, what, why or how, just give us a hole to plug our dicks into!
