Maybe he's been busy, maybe he lost his phone or the battery was dead and he forgot to charge it, maybe he's sick, maybe he has other obligations and doesn't have time to call. It's only been 2 days since you heard from him, go about your everyday life and see what happens. If you don't hear from him in another day or two call him.
I have never been in a relationship when someone did this, except for when the men had other prospects . Even with busy schedules and family emergencies my boyfriends ( who were genuinely interested in me) and I always managed to stay in touch and communicate.
I for one (and I know I'm an odd person) am not attached to my phone. I can go for days not knowing it is dead or misplaced. I enjoy the silence.
It does seem like there might be a pattern developing here. Keep mental notes on that.
I have to worry about your title. "why do MEN do this?"
Women can be just as distant, uncaring and cruel as men, and typically are. This isn't a gender thing.
I guess what bothers me the most about these kinds of posts, is that many of the smartest people on this board, those that could give you the best unbiased help, either don't respond to them, or say something similar to what I'm saying, and ignore your question.
Now... about your content. "I feel stupid believing" that he was interested? That troubles me. Do you feel you are unlovable? And that it is stupid to believe that someone would?
I think this is far more about your own insecurities than this guy's actions. I might say work on the self esteem by yourself for a while.
as far as what he is doing, call and ask.... don't guess or ask us to guess. The mind is simply TERRIBLE at coming up with worst case scenarios, at least mine is.
Good luck!
