She's 22, I'm 55, we met at work. She's just lost with no direction in life and precious little emotional support. She expressed interest in me, and I should have maintained a work relationship. I was in the middle of inventorying something and she asked a really open ended question about my personal life and I was curt with her and she cried. We met for pizza after work that night and a couple more times and there are mutual plans that at some point things will go further. This girl has been around the block a few times, worked as a stripper, recently broke up with a drug dealing boyfriend
I have a sad history of Knight-in-Shiny-Armor attempting to rescue Damsel in distress type failed relationships. Yet here I am like The Fool of the Tarot deck, walking blithely along the edge of a precipice with my dog dancing beside me.
The arguments for are terrible: I'm convinced that offering her real and honest emotional support, some guidance, and of course lots of orgasms, it will help her overcome her daily marijuana habit.
I'm definitely a Baby Boomer, I knew all my grandparents who lived through the Great Depression and I've had difficulty in relationships with Gen X women, I can only imagine how much that will be multiplied with a Gen Y girl.
Can I make this work for few months and help this girl or am I just terrible for considering it?

My sister-in-law called yesterday. She had some bad news about her job and wanted to let me know that they are coming for a visit at the end of October. Then she went on and on and on about her job! She only calls about 3 times a year so I didn't want to cut her off but I didn't have an hour and forty-five minutes to spare. I barely got a word in edgewise. Why don't people realize when...

Do you like being the center of attention?

This is disgusting.
In western society it is not the social norm to have a serious relationship with people who barely made it out of high school,
Unless you are in the same age group. It goes for men AND women.
It is actually kind of sad to see that HS group is going to be more encouraging of this situation.
This goes for men and women.
I am almost 51 and would never entertain the idea of being with a 22 year old. And trust me I have been approached.
Also, yes I was taken advantage of in my 20's by older men, they new exactly what they were doing but I was too young and dumb to know the difference.
I hope the poster of this topic decides to do the right thing and leave this young woman alone. For her sake.
The webs we weave :(
Maybe we dont agree about the definition of healthy relationships.
Maybe, finding someone is already making a dream come true.
In my opinion, whoever has the chance to find emotional support, affection, sexual attraction, friendship, all together, is very fortunate. I dont really care about their age, gender, race, etc.
In Brazil we use to say that love can be Infinite while it lasts. I would go for it. I would never refuse a chance of loving and being loved. The fear of being in an unhealthy relationship wouldnt stop me. I might get hurt, but Id live.
People keep saying you would be taking advantage of her. In which age you people live? Both can get hurt, and both could be happy. Are you a pedophile? Is she a child? I dont think so. She is a pretty experienced girl and having sex is such a sweet way for expressing affection. Good lord, I hate morality..., it is so relative!
I am glad you are comfortable about posting, after all this is a support group, I hope you both find what you are searching for.
