I'm for it, of course, I being the "older" person, not really wanting to be with a woman 20-30 years my senior, but I do recognize the absurdity of THAT big an age gap, I mean, how can two pretend they have anything in common? Assuming we're talking 20-50, one likes club-hopping, the other is heading toward liking bingo.
I know two May/December couples, one couple 20 years difference with HER being the older one. They've been together about 20 years, are very happy and have no more problems than any relationship has He was 19, she was 39 when they got together. They were on the same page with what they wanted in a relationship, they're future goals, it's worked well for them all these years and is still working.
IMO....as long as they are compatible, have the same future goals and are happy, why not give it a shot. If it works out in the long run.......great. If it doesn't, at least you won't go through life wondering if you passed up something that could have been great.
Old also doesn't equal getting sick and young equal being healthy.
P.S. Koolman........... The day I pick up a bingo card is the day I'll start digging my own grave. lol
Wasnt aware of the other discussion as I havent been on in a while, thanks for letting me know though-- It answered my questions
I wouldnt mind hearing more though if anyones got more to say! :)
Thanks for your replies, I agree 100%.
Some are old souls in young bodies, some are young souls in old bodies, some are young souls in young bodies and some are old souls in old bodies. It really depends on the intellectual and emotional personality traits and sensibilities of two people as to whether they will hit it off or repel each other. For myself, I'd feel ridiculous in more than a 25-year gap relationship. She'd have to "help" me with the fact that I'd find it absurd. She'd have to have a gleam in her eyes and craziness in her mind for me. That would encourage me to gleam and be crazy back!
Its harder I bet, but its possible.
I think it becomes mostly about sex and looks and money when a person only looks to be with younger people or with older people. I also think it depends on what ages your talking about? I mean, a 50 year old and a 35 year old together is different than say a 50 year old and 19 year old. I still believe when it comes to an older person dating someone 19, 20, 21, it's like you're not actually dating a full-fledged adult thinker yet since their brain development isn't complete at that age. So yeah, that is weird to me that anyone over a certain age would pursue someone that young. But that's me.
For me personally, I would not want to be with someone who could be my dad's peer or someone I could have given birth to. But that's me. I'm 50 and if I were single, while I like looking at attractive people of any age, there's just not that much that appeals to me about being with someone younger. And when I was young, it made my flesh crawl when an older guy would hit on me.
