I'm 25 years old and so scared I'll never be married and wind up alone. It invades my thoughts every day, and I get so depressed. A year ago I broke up with a long term boyfriend who I thought I would marry (he was extremely emotionally abusive). I've dated casually, but it's very hard to find a guy who I connect with and then continue to date--- the whole process of dating itself is exhausting and stressful for me.
Most importantly, at 25, I feel such insane pressure to find someone to get into a relationship with. I have always had a relationship, and I feel as though I'm behind the ball. My mom was married at 26 and had me at 27-- I know that women are getting married later in life, but I'm also scared of my biological clock ticking.
I'm so scared that 25 is old, and if I don't find someone now, I never will. It pervades my thoughts every day, and I get really sad and lonely about it. I feel like I only have a year or so left to meet someone, and if I never do, I'll end up being single for the rest of my life. I know and work with a couple women who are like that, and the thought terrifies me. I want a family, a husband, so badly, and I want to start a life with someone. I'm just so scared that I don't have a lot of time left (at 25). Meeting people is a LOT harder than you think- and most guys are in general, not very interested in pursuing relationships, and only want the hook up. I feel paralyzed by this fear, and it seems like an unattainable thing-- to find someone who would want to be in a relationship with me again. I just recently broke things off with a guy who I thought was going somewhere, but was just using me for sex (see last post). I don't want this to be a focus on my actions, but more so on my thoughts. Is 25 super old? I feel so much pressure to meet someone and such a rush. It's very depressing, and I'm just looking for anyone to tell me that I'm gonna be ok.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Men and women are attracted to someone confident and happy. Because you are so consumed with finding someone asap you are clearly not happy and not comfortable just being alone. You need to change that mindset or you will truly never be happy.
Trust me, I know this.....I had the love of my life break up with me at 23 and I was devastated. But I wasn't happy, I was depressed and not at peace with myself. I didn't give myself time to heal and find myself....I started online dating right away just to find a companion for fear of being alone. I eventually settled on someone and got married all before loving myself. I feel at 34 I'm too old to start over but even I know I'm not. We both still have our whole lives ahead of us, trust me, it's taken me a long time to realize my mistakes and come to terms with my bad choices. Please take a step back and just know that being with someone is not the end all be all. Even if you never get married you can still have kids. Don't you want to be happy and love yourself? That is most important and many people who are much older than you haven't found love but are happy being single, and that is attractive to the opposite sex
I hope what I'm saying makes sense. All the best to you, trust me you are not old
Why do you feel under so much pressure to be with someone ?
I think being in a relationship is great and I love it, but only if it compliments my life and not defines it.
Good luck
25 is too old if you want to keep playing with dolls or hop on your tricycle. Otherwise, in life, in relationships, in almost everything, no 25 is not too old. I got married in my 40s.
The thing to figure out is what is actually so scarey about being alone. Because I married late and didn't meet my husband until I was almost 36, I had a lot of time to be alone. I'd date and I had a couple of relationships but nothing that lasted. But I was ok. If you take this time to know yourself, love yourself and are comfortable with yourself, and have a relationship with yourself, there's nothing to fear and you can feel quite fulfilled. Why sell yourself short that way? You can have a great life with or without someone. We can have goals and plans but we also have to adapt to the fluidity of life.
I do think meeting someone requires we bring our best self forward. Desperation and fear are very detectible in people right off the bat and it's not attractive So I would say really work on yourself to not feel so lousy about where you are right now in life. Man, I was having the time of my at 25, and when I hit 30, it got even better. We don't know ourselves very well until we live a little and get some experience under our belts. That's so much better than tying yourself to someone and then looking back in life with regret. That doesn't always happen but it often does happen.
One real good thing to do at this point is to consider the type of person you want in your life. What kind of man and relationship do you want and what does it look like when you are settled down? It really helps in making new decisions to know exactly what you are looking for.
Then maybe think about where that type of person might be found. For instance, if you would like someone who is always taking care of their physical health, maybe go to the gym and workout, etc.
Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in thinking too much about the issue and it bogs down the process of actually finding the right person for you.
I've got a good same-sex male buddy with whom we enjoy watching and critiquing movies together as well as sharing a few drinks and a few laughs. We can fart in the presence of each other, which is offensive to each other and each other's olifactory senses, burns the nasal passages, yes, but might be a deal-breaker in an opposite-sex relationship or marriage. For us, it is merely a joke, a contest in fact! We really help soothe each other emotionally.
I am 25 years old as well, and my biggest fear is ending up alone without someone who loves me and who I love deeply.
