I know very little about sports... but I do kinow there are those first and forefront in the game... and then there are those second stringers. You know the ones always waiting for a chance... sitting by the sidelines patiently (or in my case impatiently) waiting on the bench.
If I think about it, I have been like this most of my life. Watching life go by without me. In the past few years I have finally come to realize what I actually want and need. I voice my opinion and was always either ignored or do get very S-L-O-W results. Right now I am dealing with the same thing with my BIL doing some work for me... he started out with a vengeance, but now I am at the tail end of the list. One of the things he is putting off is a new roof. I have been contacted by the bank to get the final bill from the completed job as well as the insurance itemized estimate they will provide. half is already in the bank. I have decided to just go with the original contractor I wanted (just hoping he will still do it and can fit me in)
I have decided it is time that I stop allowing others to drag things out or settling for crumbs (both in my relationships or things I need accomplished. ) I follow in many women in my family's footsteps... feeling like I am a second class citizen. None of us should have to be made to feel like that. So sorry so many of us do. Try to remember we deserve better.

Look at what my best friend did with my picture!

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
BIL dragging feet may be a blessing....
I think your BIL probably isn’t intentionally trying to put you off but maybe his priorities just don’t align with yours at the moment. I think it’s smart to just take control and hire who you want to hire. That way you can keep things moving and have more of a say in things. It’s been my experience every roofer and contractor we’ve ever dealt with, regardless of how highly recommended they are, always over promise completion timeframes. But at least you have more recourse when it’s a contracted person rather than someone you know. Kind of takes the emotion out of it too which is always an issue when it’s family.
Anyway I agree to hire someone outside of your family. I don’t think you have to make a big deal about it. You can just say you wanted to get it done sooner than later. He may get mad but may not either. If you don’t take him dragging his feet personally he may not take you going elsewhere personally either.
He is supposed to be retired but was wanting to get back to doing some work and getting out of the house (and away from my sister who drives him nuts) and earning some extra cash. . He is hoping to get more work from word of mouth. Truthfully, after waiting for 85 months, I am not sure I would recommend him to a friend. he does have good intentions.
...but it does bring back the last on the list kind of thinking......I am tired of waiting...and being forgotten
