My best friend from high school entered the military. He was stationed at first in texas. This was in 2010. He came home for a short period then went back. I did have him as a facebook friend. Till he disappeared. now i can not find any trace of him. I have found his dad, his twin brother. But not him. Another friend thinks he may of passed away but there's no evidence of that either. How would i go about finding out if he is alive or dead without bluntly asking his brother or dad? (I have had no contact with either of them since 2004 so it would be odd to try talking to them now)

Now that I am not talking to my whatever best friend, I realized that her life is full of drama. I had grown tired of hearing her stories about her boyfriend many months ago. She basically had been monopolizing conversations for that long too. She pretty much stopped asking me questions about me. I passed her in front of her classroom the other day and didn't even look at her. I am...

I've been on high dose prednisone for pneumonia, and now I am slowly weaning. But lots of symptoms I don't like having, plus overeating has put at least 10 lbs on me. The food is "loud" as the GLP-1 users refer to it.Also pressured speech. Which comes out in my posts. Sorry I posted so much. I just need an outlet for my agitated and irritable brain. Just scroll on by my posts, if they are too...
Did you have any mutual friend connections on Facebook? Or mutual high school friends you can ask?
Try reaching out to other high school friends, that's a good idea, but if you really do care about him then by all means take the awkward step of contacting his dad or brother, and very politely and with care state your interest in finding your friend. A lot of times people will really be thrilled to hear from an old friend - it feels really really great to know that someone has been thinking and caring about you over all the years. Even if they are embarrassed or find it awkward at first, even if you don't talk again, the mere act of reaching out and showing you care about someone after all that time is uplifting.
Maybe he's still in the military and has for job reasons been keeping a low profile. Too sometimes people just shut that social media stuff down. If your friend didn't have a strong social media presence just harder to find people. There's other sites to try too that could give you hints but they're only as good as the information people add to them and your access, like Ancestry.com, LinkedIn, Court System databases, Classmates.com.
I've never had a Facebook acct. People look for me all the time apparently. I'm professionally on LinkedIn so they could find me there. But if they're trying to find me solely on Facebook, they're out of luck. They end up finding one of my brothers through FaceBook (we have an unusual last name and there aren't many with that last name in my city so it's easy to narrow down my relatives) and will ask them about me that way.
So, do agree to just reach out to his bother or dad. It may feel awkward or uncomfortable sure but ... I don't know. I do stuff that feels awkward and uncomfortable all the time, haha!
Good luck!
I found a military site that honors all of the fallen that have served. And he is not among any of them. I dont want to contact his brother or dad because of how things ended after highschool. (The boys are twins and both asked me on dates. I didnt want to upset one or the other so just remained friends with both. It worked to remain friends till i married someone else. Then both of them gradually lost contact.
I will continue to search. Maybe search more military public record sights to see if i can find him.
I have gotten in touch with a daughter and did find out that my old friend had passed …. we had a few good talks about her mom... I felt bad but it wasn't awkward
I think she was glad to talk about her mom
I hope that he's alive and well though..... You haven't been in touch for a decade..... I wouldn't worry about being asked for a date back then...…
I'm now in touch with some people from public school …. It really is nice.... I hope that you can find some answers.....Big hug.....xo
Take the plunge. Ask his family. Worst they can do is say no. As people get older they most often soften.
At least you will have closure, or exhausted that avenue of investigation. That ought to give you some peace of mind
