Healthy Relationships Support Group
No relationship is perfect. A long-term relationship requires constant effort to understand each other, fix misunderstandings, solve problems and continue to grow as both individuals change and evolve. How we deal with our misunderstandings is the focus of this community. Join us to find support, get advice, and share your experience with your relationship.

Even with people I have known for decades, letting the relationship grow and/or change too fast is ALWAYS a red flag in my mind. Life has a way of spinning out of control when it moves too fast. I like nice and easy.
I think you are right to follow your intuition.
You will find the right person, if the level of maturity you exhibited with this guy is any indication of how you handle life in general. You weren't swept off your feet by sweet words and overt romance. Instead, you listened to your head.
My husband had this advice for our three daughters (and for the son as well):
If it feels right in your head, your heart and your gut, it's a pretty good chance it's a good thing. If your head or your heart or your gut aren't at ease with the situation, there is good reason to take it very slow or bypass the situation all together.
