Welcome to the forum!
I’ve been married for 24 years and I can say that communication is very important. Respecting each other is also a must.
I learned this from a Pastor that loving is about giving and expecting nothing. When I do something good for my husband or to my friends, I should not expect something in return.
Self-love is also important to have a healthy relationship. As the Bible says, love others as you love yourself. I cannot give away something that I do not have. I cannot pour something from an empty cup. If I am happy with myself, I can overflow to others.
I hope this helps, have a great day. God bless.
Also, communication is key. You should never be afraid to talk to your partner about anything.
In my experience, the best way to have a healthy relationship with someone else is to first develop a healthy relationship with yourself. Do you love yourself? Do you know that you deserve to be loved and respected?
Start there and if you find you could use someone to talk it through with, therapy is a wonderful option.
