Low self worth makes me feel unloved

I have struggled in relationships by making poor choices- i had 2 long term abusive relationships and for a year I built myself back up and got back into dating. I've tried to take notice of unhealthy signs but sometimes I am blinded by love.Currently I have been dating a man for 2 months and I truly adore him but he is hurting me and I don't know how to tell him.
He called me uninteligent once- I did express to him in a note that it hurt my feelings because no one is more disapointed in my level of education than myself
He has his ex's mementos all through his house and bring up their history often-on top of that he talks about a "friend" named Heather often. She is seeing someone and I don't believe they are having an affair but he mistaked me for her once and gives her gifts but doesn't gift me anything and that's not a big deal but he also doesn't take me on dates anymore and I feel he has already showed me the best version of himself.
He ignores me all week- and once i told him I was upset about my mother overdosing on drugs and he paused for a minute and then just said "ok" so I never depended on him for emotional support afterwards instead I spoke to a therapist she said that he should offer empathy but he offers affection to me in ways he knows.
I think he is really wonderful despite these negative things I have said when we are together we have a lot of fun doing puzzles, tracing each others hands, making collages, and playing in the snow. How can I control my sad feelings when he lets me down? I understand how ideals and perfectionism can destroy relationships.

Life has been really hard this past year. I'm really feeling down and alone. I can't talk to my family about my depression and anxiety their not very understanding about it. It's really hitting me since my mother passed a few months ago, plus stress from having to eventually move. Also having my niece coming around who suffers bipolar and refuses to take medication for it. Its been...

When i was in the ER February 16th 2025, i was being admitted to ICU where i was for 3 weeks, then had to relearn to walk for 3 weeks in another hospital rehab floor, the nurse told me something that made me feel for over 18 months now that i was finally *safe*. She told me that the guy who raped and beat me 21 years ago now almost 20 years at that time, was in prison as of a month before that...

These are some pretty awful things sweetie.... Really awful!!!
It sounds like you're in therapy is that right??…. If you're not I would think about getting into therapy for you moving forward
You deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.... You've only been seeing this guy for a couple of months and things read like they're not very good at all
Maybe working towards a good self esteem might be the kindest thing you can do for you ….. Big hug......xo
So opineth the Arf. . .
Gentle support, whichever way you take it, AC.
I do agree about therapy. Maybe spend some time without a boyfriend and just work on you. When we feel good about ourselves our expectations of others increases and we find our tolerance for the turds is pretty low.
Expect better for yourself. You deserve that!
